- Use appropriate safety equipment such as the following:
 
- Keep the work area and tools clean.
 
- Clean the transaxle exterior before removing the parts.
 
- Do not use wipe cloths or rags.
 
- Do not use solvent on the following:
 
- Blow out all passages with compressed air.
 
- Clean out the small passages with fine wire.
 
- Handle the parts carefully to prevent damage.
 
- Lubricate all internal parts with manual transaxle fluid during
assembly.
 
- When installing screws, bolts, or studs into aluminum, always
dip the  threads in manual transaxle fluid.
 
- Always use a torque wrench for proper torque.
 
- Recondition damaged or stripped aluminum threads with thread inserts.
 
- Replace all gaskets and O-ring seals. Do not use gasket
cement or sealers  except where specified in the procedure.
 
- Do not clean aluminum transaxle components in any type of caustic
solvents.
 
- Inspect all seals, gaskets, O-rings, and mating surfaces
for the following conditions:
