Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the HVAC control module. Refer to HVAC Module Assembly Replacement .
  2. Remove the LH temperature door electric actuator. Refer to Air Temperature Actuator Replacement - Right Side in Manual HVAC Systems.
  3. Remove the RH temperature door electric actuator. Refer to Air Temperature Actuator Replacement - Left Side in Manual HVAC Systems.

  4. Object Number: 606987  Size: SH
  5. Remove the recirculation housing retaining screws (1).
  6. Remove the recirculation housing (2).
  7. Remove the HVAC control module upper mounting screws.

  8. Object Number: 295357  Size: SH
  9. Release the retaining tab (1) and separate the upper and lower control module halves.

  10. Object Number: 296249  Size: SH
  11. Remove the HVAC control module seal that is located between the upper and lower cases.
  12. Start to remove the control module case seal (blower motor side of case) seal (2) from the lower control module case at the position shown (1).

    Important: The LH and RH temperature doors separate in the center.

  13. Remove the temperature doors (1,2).
  14. Carefully pull the temperature doors apart in the center to remove the temperature doors from the HVAC control module case.

Installation Procedure

    Important: The LH and RH temperature doors pivot in the center.

  1. Install the temperature doors (1,2).
  2. Carefully align the temperature doors into the HVAC control module case.

  3. Install the new case seal (2) into the HVAC control module case (1).

  4. Object Number: 295357  Size: SH
  5. Align and install the upper control module case to the lower control module case.
  6. Align and secure the retaining tab (1) on the upper control module case to the retaining slot on the lower control module case.

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  7. Install the HVAC control module upper mounting screws.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the HVAC control module upper mounting screws to 1.5 N·m (13 lb in).

  9. Install the recirculation housing (2).
  10. Install the recirculation housing retaining screws (1).
  11. Tighten
    Tighten the recirculation housing screws to 1.5 N·m (13 lb in).

  12. Install the LH temperature door electric actuator. Refer to Air Temperature Actuator Replacement - Right Side in Manual HVAC Systems.
  13. Install the RH temperature door electric actuator. Refer to Air Temperature Actuator Replacement - Left Side in Manual HVAC Systems.
  14. Install the HVAC control module. Refer to HVAC Module Assembly Replacement .
