Removal Procedure
  1. Remove the cross vehicle beam. Refer to Instrument Panel Tie Bar Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
  2. Remove the defroster door actuator. Refer to Defroster Valve Actuator Replacement in Manual HVAC Systems.
  3. Remove the mode door actuator. Refer to Mode Actuator Replacement in Manual HVAC Systems.
  4. Remove the defroster door link between the defroster door and the vent door on the RH side of the HVAC control module.

  5. Remove the air distribution case cover retaining screws (1).
  6. Remove the air distribution case cover (2).

    7. Object Number: 607136 Size: SH
  7. Remove the defroster door (1).

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 607136 Size: SH

    Important: Align the defroster door assist spring to the HVAC control module case.

  1. Install the defroster door (1).

    2. Object Number: 607130 Size: SH
  2. Install the air distribution case cover (2).

    3. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the air distributor cover retaining screws (1).

    4. Tighten
    Tighten the air distributor cover screws to 1.5 N·m (13 lb in).

  4. Install the defroster door link between the defroster door and the vent door on the RH side of the HVAC control module.
  5. Install the defroster door actuator. Refer to Defroster Valve Actuator Replacement in Manual HVAC Systems.
  6. Install the mode door actuator. Refer to Mode Actuator Replacement in Manual HVAC Systems.
  7. Install the cross vehicle beam. Refer to Instrument Panel Tie Bar Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
