Did you perform the entire Interior Lights System Check?

  1. Set the ignition switch to the RUN position.
  2. Enter the body control module (MALL) diagnostic mode.
    3. 2.1. Press and hold the power unlock switch.
    2.2. Cycle the headlamps 6 times.
    2.3. Release the power unlock switch.
  3. The MALL module may sound a few chimes upon entering the diagnostic mode. The chimes are the history codes stored in the MALL module. Refer to Body Control Module Diagnostic Information in Body Control System.
  4. Use the keyless entry transmitter in order to unlock the car.

Does the MALL module sound 2 chimes when the car is unlocked using the keyless entry transmitter?

Turn the interior lamp switch to the ON position.

Does the MALL module sound one chime when the interior lamp switch is activated?

  1. Turn the interior lamp switch to the OFF position.
  2. Open the left front door.
  3. Close the left front door.

Does the MALL module sound one chime when the left front door is opened, and one chime when the left front door is close?

  1. Open the right front door.
  2. Close the right front door.

Does the MALL module sound one chime when the right front door is opened, and one chime when the right front door is closed?

  1. Open the left rear door.
  2. Close the left rear door.

Does the MALL module sound one chime when the left rear door is opened, and one chime when the left rear door is closed?

Inspect CKT 156 (WHT) for a short to ground between S356 and the MALL module. Refer to Testing for Short to Ground in Wiring Systems.

Is CKT 156 OK?

Disconnect the remote function actuator (RFA) module connector.

Do all of the courtesy lamps turn off?

Replace the RFA module. Refer to Remote Control Door Lock Receiver Replacement in Keyless Entry.

Inspect CKT 394 (LT GRN/BLK) for a short to ground. Refer to Testing for Short to Ground in Wiring Systems.

Is CKT 394 OK?

Disconnect the interior lamp switch connector.

Do all of the courtesy lamps turn off?

Inspect CKT 1393 (DK BLU) for a short to ground. Refer to Testing for Short to Ground in Wiring Systems.

Inspect CKT 49 (DK BLU) (Oldsmobile) or CKT 528 (YEL) (Buick) for a short to ground. Refer to Testing for Short to Ground in Wiring Systems.
