  1. Drive the vehicle above 40 km/hr (25 mph).
  2. Place the CRUISE switch in the ON position.
  3. Depress the SET button once and release the button.
  4. Remove your foot from the accelerator pedal.

The vehicle maintains the set speed.

  1. Depress and hold the R/A switch until the vehicle speed increases by 6 to 8 km/hr (4 to 5 mph).
  2. Release the R/A switch.
    • The vehicle accelerates.
    • The vehicle maintains the new higher set speed.

  1. Depress and hold the SET button until the vehicle speed decreases by 6 to 8 km/hr (4 to 5 mph).
  2. Release the SET button.

Provided that the speed is above 40 km/hr (25 mph), the following actions occur:

    • The vehicle decelerates to a new lower set speed.
    • The vehicle maintains the new lower set speed.

Depress the brake pedal slightly.
    • The cruise control disengages.
    • The memory is unchanged.

  1. Depress the R/A switch once.
  2. Release the R/A switch.
    • The vehicle accelerates to the previously set speed.
    • The vehicle maintains the previously set speed.

  1. Depress the R/A switch once (tap up).
  2. Release the R/A switch within less than ¾ second.
    • The vehicle speed increases by 1 mph.
    • The vehicle maintains the new set speed.

Depress the SET button once (tap down) then release the button within less than 3/8 of a second.
    • The vehicle speed decreases by 1 mph.
    • The vehicle maintains the new set speed.

Depress the SET button and the R/A switch at the same time.
    • The cruise control disengages.
    • The memory is unchanged.

Place the CRUISE switch in the OFF position.
  1. The cruise control disengages.
  2. The set speed memory is erased.

  1. Connect a scan tool to the data link connector (DLC).
  2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
  3. Select powertrain control module (PCM) on the scan tool and check for PCM DTCs.

No PCM DTCs appear on the scan tool.

One or more PCM DTCs appear on the scan tool. Refer to Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) List or Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) List in Engine Controls - 3.8L
