Transmission Case and Adapter Disassemble CTS, GTO, SSR M10

Transmission Case

Tools Required

    • J 8092 Drive Handle
    • J 23907 Slide Hammer
    • J 39439-2 Bushing Remover
    • J 39790 Mainshaft Bearing Race Remover
    • J 39791 Countershaft Bearing Race Remover

  1. Remove the transmission case fill plug.
  2. Remove the temperature switch (M12 only).

    3. Object Number: 38364 Size: SH
  3. Remove the backup lamp switch.

    4. Object Number: 38365 Size: SH
  4. Remove the dowel pins.

    5. Object Number: 38376 Size: SH

    Important: Do not replace the bearing race unless inspection shows bearing race damage.

  5. Remove the countershaft bearing race, using the J 8092 and the J 39791 .

    6. Object Number: 38370 Size: SH

    Important: Do not replace the bearing race unless inspection shows bearing race damage.

  6. Remove the mainshaft bearing race, using the J 8092 and the J 39790 .

    7. Object Number: 38371 Size: SH
  7. Remove the Ist/2nd and the 3rd/4th shift shaft bushings, using the J 23907 and the J 39439-2 .

Adapter Plate

Tools Required

    • J 23907 Slide Hammer
    • J 39439-2 Bushing Remover

  1. Remove the input shaft bearing race and the shim.

    2. Object Number: 38350 Size: SH
  2. Remove the countershaft bearing race and the shim.

    3. Object Number: 351950 Size: SH
  3. Remove the adapter plate plug.

    4. Object Number: 38352 Size: SH
  4. Remove the input shaft seal.

    5. Important: Do not replace the bushing unless inspection shows bushing damage.

  5. Remove the 1st/2nd and the 3rd/4th shift shaft bushing, using the J 23907 with the J 39439-2 .

    6. Object Number: 38355 Size: SH
  6. Remove the dowel pins.

  1. Remove the transmission case fill plug (1) (MM6 only).
  2. Remove the coolant temperature switch (2) (MZ6 only).

  3. Remove the reverse lamp switch (MM6 only).

    4. Object Number: 1538831 Size: SH
  4. Remove the E-Z key switch (1) (MZ6 only).

    5. Object Number: 38365 Size: SH
  5. Remove the dowel pins.

    6. Object Number: 38376 Size: SH

    Important: Do not replace the bearing race unless inspection shows bearing race damage.

  6. Remove the countershaft bearing race, using the J 8092 and the J 39791 .

    7. Object Number: 38370 Size: SH

  7. Remove the mainshaft bearing race, using the J 8092 and the J 39790 .

  2. Remove the countershaft bearing race and the shim.

    3. Object Number: 351950 Size: SH
  3. Remove the adapter plate plug (MM6 only).

    4. Object Number: 350576 Size: SH
  4. Remove the input shaft seal.

    5. Object Number: 388468 Size: SH

    Important: Do not replace the bushing unless inspection shows bushing damage.

  5. Remove the 1st/2nd and the 3rd/4th shift shaft bushing, using the J 23907 with the J 39439-2 .

    6. Object Number: 388474 Size: SH
  6. Remove the 1st/2nd and the 3rd/4th shift shaft seals (1) and (2).

    7. Object Number: 350579 Size: SH
  7. Remove the dowel pins.
