Heater Inlet Hose Replacement LY7

 Spring Hose Clamp Pliers
Removal Procedure
- Drain the cooling system. Refer to 
Cooling System Draining and Filling
.
 
- Raise the vehicle.
 
Important: A mirror is needed to see the bolt, which is located next to the engine at the base of the head and at the top of the transmission bell house.
- Remove the lower bolt from the heater pipe assembly at the thermostat assembly.
 
- Lower the vehicle.
 
- Remove the cover assembly to the engine intake manifold.
 
- Remove the battery tray. Refer to 
Battery Tray Replacement
.
 
- Remove the lower bolt securing the battery tray to the panel assembly on the front air inlet housing.
 
- Remove the nuts securing the panel assembly to the front of the dash.
 
- Remove the panel assembly from the vehicle.
 
- Using 
J 38185 
 slide the clamp back on the heater inlet
hose.
 
- Remove the inlet heater hose from the heater core.
 
- Using 
J 38185 
 slide the clamp back on the heater outlet
hose.
 
- Remove the heater outlet hose from the heater core.
 
- Remove the upper bolt of the heater pipe assembly at the thermostat assembly.
 
- Remove the entire assembly from the vehicle.
 
- Remove the heater inlet hose from the heater pipe assembly.
 
Installation Procedure
- Install the heater inlet hose to the heater pipe assembly.
 
- Using 
J 38185 
 slide the clamp back into the original position on the hose.
 
- Position the entire assembly in the vehicle.
 
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
- Install the upper bolt of the heater pipe assembly at the thermostat assembly.
 
Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 10 N·m (7 lb ft).
- Install the inlet heater inlet hose to the heater core.
 
- Using 
J 38185 
 slide the clamp back into the original position on the hose.
 
- Install the heater outlet hose to the heater core.
 
- Using 
J 38185 
 slide the clamp back into the heater outlet hose.
 
- Install the panel assembly for the front air inlet housing to the vehicle.
 
- Install the lower bolt securing the battery tray to the panel assembly.
 
Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 6 N·m (53 lb in).
- Install the nuts securing the panel assembly to the front of the dash.
 
Tighten
Tighten the nuts to 6 N·m (53 lb in).
- Install the battery tray. Refer to 
Battery Tray Replacement
.
 
- Raise the vehicle.
 
- Install the lower bolt to the heater pipe assembly at the thermostat assembly.
 
Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 10 N·m (7 lb ft).
- Lower the vehicle.
 
- Install the cover assembly to the engine intake manifold.
 
- Fill the cooling system. Refer to 
Cooling System Draining and Filling
