- Remove the HO2S Bank 1 sensor 1
- Install the Exhaust Back Pressure Tester J 35314-A
or equivalent in
place of the HO2S.
- Allow the engine to idle at the normal operating temperature.
- Increase the engine speed to 2000 RPM.
- Observe the exhaust system back pressure reading on the gauge.
Does the reading exceed the specified value?

- Reinstall HO2S Bank 1 sensor 1.
- Remove HO2S Bank 1 sensor 2.
- Install the exhaust Back pressure tester J 35314-A
or equivalent in
place of the HO2S.
- Allow the engine to idle at the normal operating temperature.
- Increase the engine speed to 2000 RPM.
- Observe the exhaust system back pressure reading on the gauge.
Does the reading exceed the specified value?

| Repair the restriction in the exhaust system past the Catalytic Converter.
Possible faults include:

Notice: Find and repair any problems that may cause converter damage in order
to prevent damage to the replacement catalytic converter.
Replace the Bank 1 Catalytic Converter.

place of the HO2S.
