Replace the wheel(s) if the following condition(s) is evident:
| • | If the wheel is cracked. |
| • | If the wheel is dented. |
| • | If the wheel has excessive lateral runout. |
| • | If the wheel has excessive radial runout. |
| • | If the wheel leaks air through the welds. Take note that porosity
leaks in aluminum wheel can be repaired. |
| • | If the wheel has elongated bolt holes. |
| • | If the wheel bolts do not stay tight. |
Wheels with runout greater than specified may cause objectionable vibrations.
The following must be equivalent to the original equipment wheels in
replacement wheels:
| • | The load capacity must be equivalent. |
| • | The diameter must be equivalent. |
| • | The rim width must be equivalent. |
| • | The offset must be equivalent. |
| • | The mounting configuration must be equivalent. |
The following may be affected by a wheel of incorrect size or of incorrect
type:
| • | The bearing life may be affected. |
| • | The brake cooling may be affected. |
| • | The speedometer/odometer calibration may be affected. |
| • | The antilock brake system may be affected. |
| • | The vehicle ground clearance may be affected. |
| • | The tire clearance to the body may be affected. |
| • | The tire clearance to the chassis may be affected. |
