The steering wheel position sensor identifies the position of the steering wheel. The EBCM monitors the steering wheel position sensor phase A and phase B signal circuits for the VSES.
| • | Ignition ON. |
| • | Ignition voltage is greater than 10 volts. |
| • | The EBCM detects the phase A and phase B signals do not correlate. |
| • | The EBCM detects the calculated steering angle from the steering wheel position sensor does not correlate with the steering angle calculated from the yaw rate. |
| • | The EBCM turns OFF the 5-volt reference circuit. |
| • | The EBCM disables the VSES for the duration of the ignition cycle. |
| • | A DIC message and/or a warning indicator may be displayed. |
| • | The condition for the DTC is no longer present. |
| • | The EBCM clears the history DTC when a current DTC is not detected in 100 consecutive drive cycles. |
| • | If the steering wheel position sensor is disconnected, the EBCM will not provide 5-volts to the sensor. |
| • | A poor ground connection for the EBCM may cause this DTC to set. |
