Some 1990 Broughams may exhibit a condition of radio staying on with ignition off. The antenna will remain up and the audio will remain operative.
Vehicles built before mid-October may have a shorted capacitor in the radio head which damages the radio chassis. The short in the radio head will not damage the radio chassis until the key is turned on with the radio power turned ofE.
To repair this condition the radio head and chassis must both be repaired or exchanged by an authorized AC-Delco Centre. Do not replace a chassis without replacing the radio head because the head will cause damage to the new chassis.
General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
