Makes 🢒 Cadillac 🢒 2009 🢒 SLS 🢒 Engine 🢒 Engine Mechanical - 4.6L (LH2) 🢒 Oil Filter Adapter Replacement

Removal Procedure
  1. Remove the left engine mount bracket. Refer to Engine Mount Bracket Replacement - Left Side.

    2. Object Number: 1346214 Size: SH
  2. Disconnect the electrical connector from the engine oil pressure switch.
  3. Disconnect the electrical connector from the engine oil pressure switch.
  4. Remove the oil filter.

    5. Object Number: 1346212 Size: SH
  5. Remove the adapter mounting bolts.
  6. Remove the adapter and discard the gasket.
  7. Remove the engine oil pressure switch from the oil filter adapter.
  8. Clean and inspect the oil filter adapter. Refer to Oil Filter Adapter Cleaning and Inspection.

Installation Procedure

    Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 1261656 Size: SH
  1. Install the engine oil pressure switch to the oil filter adapter.

    2. Tighten
    Tighten the engine oil pressure switch to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  2. Install the new gasket.

    3. Object Number: 1346212 Size: SH
  3. Install the bolts attaching the oil filter adapter to the engine block.

    4. Tighten
    Tighten the oil filter adapter bolts to 16 N·m (12 lb ft).


    Object Number: 1346214 Size: SH
  4. Lightly oil the replacement oil filter gasket with clean oil.

    5. Note: Fill the oil filter with engine oil.

  5. Install the oil filter.

    6. Tighten
    Tighten the oil filter to 32 N·m (24 lb ft).

  6. Connect the electrical connector to the engine oil pressure switch.
  7. Connect the engine oil cooler lines to the adapter, if equipped.
  8. Install the left engine mount bracket. Refer to Engine Mount Bracket Replacement - Left Side.
  9. Lower the vehicle.
  10. Adjust the engine oil level to the full mark.
  11. Inspect for oil leaks after engine start up.
