Makes 🢒 Cadillac 🢒 2009 🢒 SLS 🢒 Steering 🢒 Steering Wheel and Column 🢒 Steering Wheel Position Sensor or Steering Shaft Lower Bearing Replacement

Removal Procedure

    Warning: Refer to SIR Warning in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 420221 Size: SH
  1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling.
  2. Remove the steering column from the vehicle. Refer to Steering Column Replacement.
  3. Remove the following from the steering shaft:
    4. 3.1. The boot seal (5)
    3.2. The steering shaft seal (4)
    3.3. The sensor retainer (3)
    3.4. The sensor locator (2)
  4. Remove the steering wheel position sensor (1). Refer to Steering Wheel Position Sensor Centering.

    5. Object Number: 1562298 Size: SH
  5. Remove the adapter and bearing assembly from the steering column support assembly.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 1562298 Size: SH
  1. Install the adapter and bearing assembly onto the steering column support assembly.

    2. Object Number: 420221 Size: SH
  2. Install the following to the steering shaft:
    3. 2.1. The steering wheel position sensor (1)--Refer to Steering Wheel Position Sensor Centering.
    2.2. The sensor locator (2)
    2.3. The sensor retainer (3)
    2.4. The steering shaft seal (4)
    2.5. The boot seal (5)
  3. Install the steering column to the vehicle. Refer to Steering Column Replacement.
  4. Enable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling.
