Preliminary Procedures

1. Many automatic transmission shift control related complaints can be corrected with linkage adjustment. DO NOT replace a shifter assembly without first attempting to correct the condition with the linkage adjustment procedure.
2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
3. Disconnect the shift linkage from the shift control. Refer to Shift Control Linkage Replacement.
4. Lower the vehicle.
5. Remove the shift control knob. Refer to Transmission Control Lever Knob Replacement.
6. Remove the center console assembly. Refer to Front Floor Console Replacement.
7. Disconnect the electrical connector from the shift control.

9 N·m (80 lb in)
