Tools Required

    • EN 46109 Guide Pin Set
    • J 45059 Angle Meter

    Object Number: 1961731 Size: SH
  1. Install the 8 mm (0.315 in) guide from the EN 46109  (1) into the cylinder block positions as shown.

    2. Object Number: 1961732 Size: SH
  2. Install the NEW engine front cover to cylinder block seal (1).

    3. Object Number: 1961733 Size: SH
  3. Place a 3 mm (0.118 in) bead of RTV sealant (1), on the engine front cover as shown.

    4. Object Number: 1958123 Size: SH
  4. Place the engine front cover (1) onto the EN 46109 and slide into position.
  5. Remove the EN 46109 from the cylinder block.

    6. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  6. Hand start all the engine front cover to cylinder block retaining bolts (1).

    7. Object Number: 1961735 Size: SH
  7. Tighten the engine front cover to cylinder block retaining bolts in the sequence shown.

    8. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts a first pass in sequence to 20 N·m (17 lb ft).

    Tighten the bolts a second pass in sequence an additional 60 degrees using the J 45059 .

  8. Install NEW O-rings on the camshaft position sensors.

  9. Install the camshaft position sensors (2).
  10. Install the camshaft position sensor to front cover retaining bolts (1).

    11. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).


    Object Number: 1958119 Size: SH

    Important: LE0 and LW2 engines only have intake camshaft position actuator solenoids.

  11. Install the camshaft position actuator solenoids (2).
  12. Install the camshaft position actuator solenoid to front cover retaining bolts (1).

    13. Tighten

    1. Tighten the bolts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).
    2. Tighten the bolts a second pass in sequence an additional 60 degrees using the J 45059 .
