Steering Wheel Replacement LHD
                    
Tools Required
 7245 Steering Wheel Puller.
Removal procedure
- Disconnect the battery ground cable. Refer to 
Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.
 
Caution: Refer to SIR Caution in the Preface section.
- Disable the SIR system. Refer to 
SIR Disabling and Enabling.
 
- Remove the inflatable restraint steering wheel module. Refer to 
Steering Wheel Inflatable Restraint Module Replacement.
 
- Disconnect the steering wheel electrical
connector (2).
 
Important: Bolts with micro-encapsulated thread sealant
must be discarded after removal.
- Remove the steering wheel to steering column retaining bolt (1).
 
Discard the bolt.
Important: Observing the orientation of the steering
wheel with reference to the steering column will minimise the potential of incorrect
steering wheel alignment.
- Mark the steering wheel (4) in relation to the steering column shaft (3).
 
Important: The front wheels and steering wheel (4) must
be in the straight ahead position before removing the steering wheel (4) from the
steering column shaft (3).
- Remove the steering wheel (4) from the steering column shaft (3). 
If
necessary use the 7245 Steering Wheel Puller.
 
Installation Procedure
Important: The steering wheel and steering column shaft
splines must be installed in the position recorded during removal and aligned with
the marks previously made.
- Install the steering wheel (4) to the steering column shaft (3).
 
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
- Install the NEW steering wheel to steering column shaft retaining bolt (1).
 
Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 45 N·m (33 lb ft).
- Connect the steering wheel electrical connector (2).
 
- Install the inflatable restraint steering wheel module to the steering
wheel. Refer to 
Steering Wheel Inflatable Restraint Module Replacement.
 
- Connect the battery ground cable. Refer to 
Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.
 
- Enable the SIR system. Refer to 
SIR Disabling and Enabling.
