Turn Signal Cancel Cam and Upper Bearing Inner Race Replacement Off Vehicle - Column Shift

Tools Required

1. If the steering column trim covers does not have an inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil. Refer to Steering Column Trim Covers Replacement .
2. Compress the shaft lock shield assembly using J 23653-SIR and J 42137 .



3. Remove the bearing retainer (1) from the shaft.
4. Remove J 23653-SIR and J 42137 .
5. Discard the bearing retainer.
6. Remove the shaft lock shield assembly (2).
7. Remove the turn signal cancel cam assembly (3).
8. Remove the upper bearing spring (4).
9. Remove the upper bearing inner race seat (5).
10. Remove the inner race (6).

1. Lubricate and install the inner race (1).
2. Install the upper bearing inner race seat (2).
3. Install the upper bearing spring (3).
4. Lubricate the brass surface of the turn signal cancel cam assembly (4) with lithium grease.
5. Install the turn signal cancel cam assembly (4).
6. Install the shaft lock assembly onto the steering shaft assembly.



7. Install the new bearing retainer (1) onto the steering shaft. The bearing retainer must be firmly seated in the groove on the race and upper shaft assembly.
8. Compress the shaft lock shield assembly using J 23653-SIR and J 42137 .
9. Remove J 23653-SIR and J 42137 .
10. If the steering column does not have an inflatable restrainst steering wheel module coil. Refer to Steering Column Trim Covers Replacement .

Turn Signal Cancel Cam and Upper Bearing Inner Race Replacement Off Vehicle - Floor Shift

Tools Required

1. Compress the shaft lock shield assembly using J 23653-SIR and J 42137 .
2. Remove the bearing retainer (1) from the shaft.
3. Remove J 23653-SIR and J 42137 .
4. Discard the bearing retainer.



5. Remove the shaft lock shield assembly (2).
6. Remove the turn signal cancel cam assembly (3).
7. Remove the upper bearing spring (4).
8. Remove the upper bearing inner race seat (5).
9. Remove the inner race (6).

1. Lubricate and install the inner race (1).
2. Install the upper bearing inner race seat (2).
3. Install the upper bearing spring (3).
4. Lubricate the brass surface of the turn signal cancel cam assembly (4) with lithium grease.
5. Install the turn signal cancel cam assembly (4).
6. Install the shaft lock assembly  (5) onto the steering shaft assembly.



7. Install the new bearing retainer (1) onto the steering shaft. The bearing retainer must be firmly seated in the groove on the race and upper shaft assembly.
8. Compress the shaft lock shield assembly using J 23653-SIR and J 42137 .
9. Remove J 23653-SIR and J 42137 .
