  1. Connect a scan tool to the Data link Connector (DLC).
  2. Start the engine.
  3. Read the engine RPM display and compare the display to the vehicle tachometer reading on the I/P Cluster.

Is the scan tool reading within 250 RPMs of the vehicle tachometer?
