Removal Procedure
- Remove the transmission. Refer to Transmission Replacement in
Automatic Transmission or Manual Transmission.
 
- Remove the clutch and flywheel as equipped.
 
Notice: Remove the rear crankshaft oil seal carefully in order to
avoid nicking the crankshaft sealing surface.
- Remove the crankshaft rear oil seal. Insert a screwdriver into the notches
provided in the seal retainer and pry the seal out.
 
- Inspect the chamfer on crankshaft for grit, loose rust, and burrs.
Correct as necessary.
 
- Clean the seal running surface on the crankshaft with a non-abrasive
cleaner.
 
Installation Procedure
Tools Required
J 35621-A  Rear Oil
Seal Installer
- Install the crankshaft rear oil seal using the following procedure:
 
| 1.1.  | Lubricate the inner and outer diameter of the seal with engine
oil. | 
 
| 1.3.  | Position the J 35621-A 
 against the crankshaft. Thread the attaching screws into the tapped
holes in the crankshaft. | 
 
| 1.4.  | Tighten the screws securely with a screwdriver. This will ensure
that the seal is installed squarely over the crankshaft. | 
 
| 1.5.  | Turn the handle until it bottoms. | 
 
- Install the clutch and flywheel as equipped.
 
- Install the transmission. Refer to Transmission Replacement in
Automatic Transmission or in Manual Transmission.
