Removal Procedure

    Object Number: 843785 Size: SH
  1. Relieve the fuel system pressure. Refer to Fuel Pressure Relief .
  2. Remove the engine sight shield. Refer to Upper Intake Manifold Sight Shield Replacement in Engine Mechanical - 8.1L.
  3. Remove the fuel pressure regulator vacuum line.
  4. Clean any dirt from the fuel pressure regulator retainer and the surrounding area.

  5. Remove the fuel pressure regulator retainer (9).
  6. Remove the fuel pressure regulator (8).
  7. If necessary, remove the following:
    8. 7.1. Backup ring (10)
    7.2. Large O-ring (11)
    7.3. Regulator filter (12)
    7.4. Small O-ring (13)

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 705539 Size: SH
  1. Install the following onto the fuel pressure regulator (8).
    2. 1.1. A NEW small O-ring (13)
    1.2. Regulator filter (12)
    1.3. A NEW large O-ring (11)
    1.4. Backup ring (10)
  2. Lubricate the fuel pressure regulator large O-ring and the small O-ring with clean engine oil.
  3. Push the fuel pressure regulator into the housing on the fuel rail.
  4. Install a NEW fuel pressure regulator retainer (9).

  5. Install the fuel pressure regulator vacuum line.
  6. Install the engine sight shield. Refer to Upper Intake Manifold Sight Shield Replacement in Engine Mechanical - 8.1L.
  7. Install the fuel fill cap.
  8. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.
  9. Use the following procedure to inspect for leaks:
    10. 9.1. Turn the ignition ON, with the engine OFF, for 2 seconds.
    9.2. Turn the ignition OFF for 10 seconds.
    9.3. Turn the ignition ON, with the engine OFF.
    9.4. Inspect for fuel leaks.
