- Clean the crankshaft balancer in solvent.
 
Caution: Wear safety glasses in order to avoid eye damage.
- Dry the crankshaft balancer with compressed air.
 
- Inspect the crankshaft balancer for the following conditions:
 
| •  | Damaged belt grooves (3) | 
 
| •  | Debris in the belt grooves (3) | 
 
| •  | Worn, grooved, or damaged hub seal surface (1) | 
 
|    -  | Minor imperfections on the hub seal surface may be removed with a polishing compound or fine grade of emery cloth. | 
 
|    -  | A crankshaft balancer hub seal surface with excessive scoring, grooves, rust or other damage must be replaced. | 
 
| •  | Worn, chunking, or deteriorated rubber between the hub and pulley (2) | 
 
- Repair or replace the crankshaft balancer, as necessary.
