Power Steering Hoses Replacement Vacuum Brake Booster

1. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Draining and Filling Cooling System in Engine Cooling in the 1999 C/K Service Manual.



2. Remove the evaporator pipe-to-shroud retaining bolts.
3. Position the evaporator pipe rearward.
4. Remove the coolant surge tank. Refer to Radiator Surge Tank Replacement in Engine Cooling.
5. Remove the hoses.
6. Remove the upper radiator hose from the radiator. Refer to Radiator Hose Replacement in Engine Cooling in the 1999 C/K Service Manual.
7. Remove the evaporative emission (EVAP) canister and bracket. Refer to EVAP Canister Replacement in Engine Controls in the 1999 C/K Service Manual.
8. Remove the windshield washer solvent container. Refer to Washer Solvent Container and Pump Replacement in Wipers/Washer Systems in the 1999 C/K Service Manual.
9. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting and Jacking in General Information in the 1999 C/K Service Manual.



10. Remove the front cover shield.
11. Remove the bolts from the lower radiator shroud.
12. Lower the vehicle.
13. Disconnect the upper and the lower transmission cooler lines from the radiator. Refer to Oil Cooler Line Replacement in Automatic Transmission in the 1999 C/K Service Manual.
14. Disconnect the lower radiator hose from the radiator. Refer to Radiator Hose Replacement in Engine Cooling in the 1999 C/K Service Manual.
15. Disconnect the upper and the lower oil cooler lines from the radiator. Refer to Engine Oil Cooler Line Replacement in Engine Cooling in the 1999 C/K Service Manual.
16. Remove the radiator. Refer to Radiator Replacement in Engine Cooling in the 1999 C/K Service Manual.
17. Remove the lower radiator shroud. Refer to Fan Shroud Replacement (Lower) in Engine Cooling in the 1999 C/K Service Manual.
18. Remove the grille. Refer to Radiator Grille Replacement in Body Front End in the 1999 C/K Service Manual.



19. Disconnect the return hose from the cooler line.



20. Disconnect the return hose from the power steering pump.
21. Remove the power steering pump return hose from the vehicle.



22. Disconnect the power steering gear pressure line at the power steering gear.
23. Disconnect the pressure line at the power steering pump.
24. Remove the power steering pressure line from the vehicle.

1. Install the power steering pressure line.
2. Connect the pressure line at the power steering pump.
3. Attach the hose to the outlet pipe with a new crimp band and a suitable crimping tool.
4. Connect the power steering gear pressure line at the power steering gear.

Tighten
Tighten the pressure line fitting to 33 N·m (24 lb ft).




5. Install the power steering pump return hose.
6. Connect the return hose to the power steering pump.



7. Connect the return hose to the cooler line.
8. Install the grille. Refer to Radiator Grille Replacement in Body Front End in the 1999 C/K Service Manual.
9. Install the lower radiator shroud.

Do not install the bolts.

10. Install the radiator. Refer to Radiator Replacement in Engine Cooling in the 1999 C/K Service Manual.
11. Connect the upper and the lower oil cooler lines to the radiator. Refer to Engine Oil Cooler Line Replacement in Engine Cooling in the 1999 C/K Service Manual.
12. Connect the lower radiator hose to the radiator. Refer to Radiator Hose Replacement in Engine Cooling in the 1999 C/K Service Manual.
13. Connect the upper and the lower transmission cooler lines to the radiator. Refer to Oil Cooler Line Replacement in Automatic Transmission in the 1999 C/K Service Manual.
14. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting and Jacking in General Information in the 1999 C/K Service Manual.
15. Install the lower radiator shroud bolts. Refer to Fan Shroud Replacement (Lower) in Engine Cooling in the 1999 C/K Service Manual.



16. Install the front cover shield.
17. Lower the vehicle.
18. Install the windshield washer solvent container. Refer to Washer Solvent Container and Pump Replacement in Windshield Wiper/Washer System in the 1999 C/K Service Manual.
19. Install the evaporative emissions canister and the bracket. Refer to EVAP Canister Replacement in Engine Controls in the 1999 C/K Service Manual.
20. Install the upper radiator hose to the radiator. Refer to Radiator Hose Replacement in Engine Cooling in the 1999 C/K Service Manual.
21. Install the coolant surge tank. Refer to Radiator Surge Tank Replacement in Engine Cooling.
22. Install the coolant surge tank hoses. Refer to Surge Tank Hose Replacement in Engine Cooling.



23. Reposition the evaporator pipe.
24. Install the bolts.
25. Refill the cooling system. Refer to Draining and Filling Cooling System in Engine Cooling in the 1999 C/K Service Manual.
26. Refill the automatic transmission fluid.
27. Inspect the automatic transmission fluid.
28. Refill the power steering system. Refer to Bleeding the Power Steering System in the 1999 C/K Service Manual.

Power Steering Hoses Replacement Hydraulic Brake Booster

1. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Draining and Filling Cooling System in Engine Cooling in the 1999 C/K Service Manual.



2. Remove the evaporator pipe-to-shroud retaining bolts.
3. Position the evaporator pipe rearward.
4. Remove the coolant surge tank. Refer to Radiator Surge Tank Replacement in Engine Cooling.
5. Remove the coolant surge tank hoses. Refer to Surge Tank Hose Replacement in Engine Cooling.
6. Remove the upper radiator hose from the radiator. Refer to Radiator Hose Replacement in Engine Cooling in the 1999 C/K Service Manual.
7. Remove the evaporative emissions canister and bracket. Refer to EVAP Canister Replacement in Engine Controls in the 1999 C/K Service Manual.
8. Remove the windshield washer solvent container. Refer to Washer Solvent Container and Pump Replacement in Wipers/Washer Systems in the 1999 C/K Service Manual.
9. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting and Jacking in General Information in the 1999 C/K Service Manual.



10. Remove the front cover shield.
11. Remove the bolts from the lower radiator shroud.
12. Lower the vehicle.
13. Disconnect the upper and the lower transmission cooler lines from the radiator. Refer to Oil Cooler Line Replacement in Automatic Transmission in the 1999 C/K Service Manual.
14. Disconnect the lower radiator hose from the radiator. Refer to Radiator Hose Replacement in Engine Cooling in the 1999 C/K Service Manual.
15. Disconnect the upper and the lower oil cooler lines from the radiator. Refer to Engine Oil Cooler Line Replacement in Engine Cooling in the 1999 C/K Service Manual.
16. Remove the radiator. Refer to Radiator Replacement in Engine Cooling in the 1999 C/K Service Manual.
17. Remove the lower radiator shroud. Refer to Fan Shroud Replacement (Lower) in Engine Cooling in the 1999 C/K Service Manual.
18. Remove the grille. Refer to Radiator Grille Replacement in Body Front End in the 1999 C/K Service Manual.



19. Remove the lines from the supporting bracket.



20. Disconnect the return hose from the cooler line.



21. Disconnect the return hose from the power steering pump.
22. Remove the power steering pump return hose from the vehicle.



23. Disconnect the power steering gear pressure line at the power steering gear.
24. Disconnect the pressure line at the hydraulic brake booster.
25. Remove the power steering pressure line from the vehicle.



26. Disconnect the return line at the brake booster.
27. Disconnect the return line at the power steering pump.
28. Remove the brake booster return line from the vehicle.

1. Install the brake booster return line into the vehicle.
2. Connect the return line at the power steering pump.
3. Connect the return line at the brake booster.



4. Install the power steering pressure line into the vehicle.
5. Connect the power steering gear pressure line at the power steering gear.

Tighten

•	Tighten the pressure line fitting to 33 N·m (24 lb ft).

•	Tighten the brake booster outlet pipe fitting to 35  N·m (26 lb ft).




6. Install the power steering pump return hose into the vehicle.
7. Connect the return hose to the power steering pump.



8. Connect the return hose to the cooler line.



9. Install the bracket in order to hold the lines in place.
10. Install the grille. Refer to Radiator Grille Replacement in Body Front End in the 1999 C/K Truck Service Manual.
11. Install the lower radiator shroud.

Do not install the bolts.

12. Install the radiator. Refer to Radiator Replacement in Engine Cooling in the 1999 C/K Truck Service Manual.
13. Connect the upper and the lower oil cooler lines to the radiator. Refer to Engine Oil Cooler Line Replacement in Engine Cooling in the 1999 C/K Truck Service Manual.
14. Connect the lower radiator hose to the radiator. Refer to Radiator Hose Replacement in Engine Cooling in the 1999 C/K Truck Service Manual.
15. Connect the upper and the lower transmission cooler lines to the radiator. Refer to Oil Cooler Line Replacement in Automatic Transmission in the 1999 C/K Truck Service Manual.
16. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting and Jacking in General Information in the 1999 C/K Truck Service Manual.
17. Install the lower radiator shroud bolts. Refer to Fan Shroud Replacement (Lower) in Engine Cooling in the 1999 C/K Truck Service Manual.



18. Install the front cover shield
19. Lower the vehicle.
20. Install the windshield washer solvent container. Refer to Washer Solvent Container and Pump Replacement in Wipers/Washer Systems in the 1999 C/K Truck Service Manual.
21. Install the evaporative emissions canister and bracket. Refer to EVAP Canister Replacement in Engine Controls in the 1999 C/K Truck Service Manual.
22. Install the upper radiator hose to the radiator. Refer to Radiator Hose Replacement in Engine Cooling in the 1999 C/K Truck Service Manual.
23. Install the coolant surge tank. Refer to Radiator Surge Tank Replacement in Engine Cooling.
24. Install the coolant surge tank hoses. Refer to Surge Tank Hose Replacement in Engine Cooling.



25. Reposition the evaporator pipe and install the bolts.
26. Refill the cooling system. Refer to Draining and Filling Cooling System in Engine Cooling in the 1999 C/K Truck Service Manual.
27. Refill the automatic transmission fluid.
28. Inspect the automatic transmission fluid.
29. Refill the power steering system. Refer to Bleeding the Power Steering System in the 1999 C/K Truck Service Manual.
