Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection Single Battery

Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in the Preface section.

1. Turn off all the lamps and accessories.
2. Turn the ignition OFF.



3. Disconnect the battery ground (negative) cable and bolt from the battery 4.3 L.

or




4. Disconnect the battery ground (negative) cable and bolt from the battery for 4.8 L, 5.3 L, 6.0 L, 8.1 L or 6.6 L (Diesel).

Notice: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in the Preface section.





Important: Clean any existing corrosion from the battery terminal bolt flange and the battery cable end.

1. Connect the battery ground (negative) cable and bolt to the battery.

Tighten
Tighten the battery terminal bolt to 16 N·m (12 lb ft).

2. Set the clock to the current time and program the customer's preferred radio stations. Refer to Radio/Audio System Description and Operation in Entertainment.

Important: Clean any existing corrosion from the battery terminal bolt flange and the battery cable end.

1. Connect the battery ground (negative) cable and bolt to the battery.

Tighten
Tighten the battery terminal bolt to 16 N·m (12 lb ft).

2. Set the clock to the current time and program the customer's preferred radio stations.

Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection Auxiliary Battery

Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in the Preface section.

1. Turn off all the lamps and accessories.
2. Turn the ignition OFF.



3. Disconnect the battery ground (negative) cable and bolt from the battery 4.3 L, 4.8 L, 5.3 L, 6.0 L and 8.1 L.

or




4. Disconnect the battery ground (negative) cable and bolt from the battery for the 6.6 L (Diesel).

Important: Clean any existing corrosion from the battery terminal bolt flange and the battery cable end.

1. Connect the battery ground (negative) cable and bolt to the battery.

Tighten
Tighten the battery terminal bolt to 17 N·m (13 lb ft).

2. Set the clock to the current time and program the customer's preferred radio stations.

1. Connect the battery ground (negative) cable and bolt to the battery.
