Evaporative Emission Canister Replacement 1500 Series
                    
Removal Procedure
Important: Clean all evaporative emission (EVAP) line connections and surrounding areas prior to disconnecting, in order to avoid possible EVAP system contamination.
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to 
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
.
 
- Remove the EVAP canister bracket bolts and lower the EVAP canister.
 
- Disconnect the fuel tank EVAP line quick connect fittings (1) from the EVAP canister. Refer to 
Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service
 .
 
- Disconnect the EVAP canister vent solenoid quick connecting fitting (1) from the EVAP canister. Refer to 
Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service
 .
 
- Remove the EVAP canister.
 
- If necessary, remove the EVAP canister to bracket bolt.
 
- If necessary, remove the EVAP canister from the bracket.
 
Installation Procedure
- If necessary, install the EVAP canister to the bracket.
 
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
- If necessary, install the EVAP canister to bracket bolt.
 
Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).
- Position the EVAP canister.
 
- Connect the EVAP canister vent solenoid quick connecting fitting (1) to the EVAP canister. Refer to 
Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service
 .
 
- Connect the fuel tank EVAP line quick connect fittings (1) to the EVAP canister. Refer to 
Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service
 .
 
- Install the EVAP canister bracket bolts.
 
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).
- Lower the vehicle.
 
                            Evaporative Emission Canister Replacement 2500 Series
                    
Removal Procedure
Important: Clean all evaporative emission (EVAP) line connections and surrounding areas prior to disconnecting, in order to avoid possible EVAP system contamination.
- Remove the right side, rear bumper step pad. Refer to 
Rear Bumper Step Outer Pad Replacement
 .
 
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to 
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
 .
 
- Disconnect the chassis wiring harness electrical connector (1) from the EVAP canister vent solenoid.
 
- Disconnect the rear fuel tank EVAP canister quick connect fittings from the EVAP canister. Refer to 
Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service
 .
 
- Remove the EVAP canister bolt.
 
- Lower the vehicle half way.
 
- Loosen the EVAP canister bracket nuts (1).
 
- Using a flat bladed screwdriver, disengage the front bracket clip.
 
- Using a flat bladed screwdriver, disengage the rear bracket clip.
 
- Remove the EVAP canister.
 
- Cap the EVAP lines in order to prevent possible EVAP system contamination.
 
- Disconnect the EVAP canister vent solenoid line (1) quick connect fitting at the EVAP canister. Refer to 
Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service
 .
 
Installation Procedure
- Connect the EVAP canister vent solenoid line (1) quick connect fitting at the EVAP canister. Refer to 
Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service
 .
 
- Remove the caps from the EVAP lines.
 
- Install the EVAP canister.
 
- Using a flat bladed screwdriver, engage the rear bracket clip.
 
- Using a flat bladed screwdriver, engage the front bracket clip.
 
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
- Tighten the EVAP canister bracket nuts (1).
 
Tighten
Tighten the nuts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).
- Raise the vehicle. 
 
- Install the EVAP canister bolt.
 
Tighten
Tighten the nuts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).
- Connect the rear fuel tank EVAP canister quick connect fittings to the EVAP canister. Refer to 
Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service
 .
 
- Connect the EVAP canister vent solenoid (CVS) electrical connector (1).
 
- Lower the vehicle.
 
- Install the right side, rear bumper step pad. Refer to 
Rear Bumper Step Outer Pad Replacement
 .
