This bulletin is being revised to provide warranty claims submission information. Please discard Corporate Bulletin Number 04-08-57-004 (Section 08 -- Body and Accessories).
Condition
Some customers may comment on water on the driver's side floor area.
Cause
A lack of body seam sealer in the left side cowl area may cause this condition.
Correction
Reseal the left side cowl area by following the procedure below.
- Position the wipers half way up on the windshield.
 
- Remove the wiper arm caps and nuts.
 
- Remove the wiper arms with the J 39637 - Wiper Arm Puller.
 
- Remove the antenna mast.
 
- Remove the retaining clips from the cowl panel.
 
- Reposition the cowl panel and lay to the right side of the engine area, still leaving the washer hose connected.
 
- Disconnect the wiper motor electrical connector.
 
- Remove the wiper motor and transmission assembly bolts.
 
- Remove the wiper motor and transmission assembly from the vehicle.
 
- Clean the surface of dirt and debris from the left side cowl area.
 
- Apply a bead of 3M™ 8405 Flexiclear body seam sealer, or equivalent, across the cowl area as shown in the illustration above.
 
- Install the wiper motor and transmission assembly back into the vehicle.
 
- Install the wiper motor and transmission assembly bolts.
 
Tighten 
Tighten the bolts to 9 N·m (81 lb in).
- Connect the electrical connector to the wiper motor.
 
- Install the cowl panel and retaining clips.
 
- Install the antenna mast.
 
- Cycle the wiper arm pivots to the park position.
 
- Install the wiper arm blade assemblies to the round alignment dot located in the blackout area of the windshield.
 
- Install the wiper arm nuts and caps.
 
Tighten
Tighten the nuts to 33-38 N·m (24-28 lb ft).
- Verify proper wiper operation and alignment of wiper blades.
