A scan tool is a very useful tool and must be used when
referred to throughout this section. In addition to displaying DTCs, the
scan tool is capable of displaying input status and the data values
the RFA system uses to perform certain functions. It is also capable
of sending specific commands to other systems to determine if the
malfunction is due to the RFA system not sending a proper command,
or the system that received the command is not responding to the
command. Using the driver door lock system function as an example,
sending a door lock or unlock message to the driver Door Control Module
(DCM) to cycle the door lock can determine if the DCM can actually
perform the door lock/unlock function. If the DCM are functioning
properly and the RFA system is still unable to operate the door locks
then the problem is most likely with the RFA system, or an input
to the RFA system.
The scan tool can also be used to display input data the RFA system
borrows from other systems on the serial data line. This can assist in determining
if the RFA system is actually receiving the correct data values.
For example, if the DCMs can properly operate the door locks but
the RFA system cannot, the problem could be with the input information
the RFA system receives from the Body Control Module (BCM). The
RFA system uses key in ignition information from the BCM to determine
if the key is IN or OUT of the ignition. Refer to
Keyless Entry System Description
    for input information
the RFA system uses to perform its functions.

RFA/TPM Scan Tool Data Definitions:
The RFA/TPM Scan Tool Data Definitions contains a brief description
of all RFA/TPM related parameters available on the scan tool.
Point of Sale : The scan tool displays the country the vehicle was sold in.
Software ID : The scan tool displays the receiver software ID number for service
identification.
Key In Ignition : The scan tool displays Yes or No. The RFA system receives this
information on the serial data line from the BCM. When the key is IN the ignition
switch, the scan tool will display Yes. When the key is removed from the
ignition switch, the scan tool will No.
Invalid Key Fob : The scan tool displays Yes or No. If an invalid transmitter is
within range, and a button is pressed, the scan tool will display Yes. If
a valid transmitter is in range, and a button is pressed, the scan tool
  will display No.
Valid Key Fob : The scan tool displays Yes or No. If an valid transmitter is in
range, and a button is pressed, the scan tool will display Yes. If an invalid
transmitter is in range, and a button is pressed, the scan tool will
display No.
Keyless Entry Option : The scan tool displays On or Off. This information is programmed
into the BCM RPO content and sent on the serial data line. If the keyless
entry option is programmed into the BCM, the scan tool will display Yes.
If not, the scan tool will display No.
Current Power Mode : The scan tool displays the current power mode. The BCM determines
ignition switch position from it's ignition inputs. This ignition switch information
is sent on the serial data line to systems that relay on this information
to preform certain functions (RAP, wake-up, etc.).
Class 2 Disable : The scan tool displays Yes or No. If the RFA system cannot
communicate on the serial data line, the scan tool will display Yes. If the
RFA system can communicate, the scan tool will display No.
Programmed Key Fobs : The scan tool displays 1 to 3. The scan tool displays the amount
of valid transmitters programmed in the keyless entry receiver.
LF Tire Pressure : The scan tool displays 0-1020 kPa (0-148 psi).
The scan tool displays tire pressure data received from the LF tire pressure
sensor. The scan tool will display 1020 kPa (148 psi) until
the vehicle is driven and LF tire pressure sensor information is received.
LR Tire Pressure : The scan tool displays 0-1020 kPa (0-148 psi).
The scan tool displays tire pressure data received from the LR tire pressure
sensor. The scan tool will display 1020 kPa (148 psi) until
the vehicle is driven and LR tire pressure sensor information is received.
RF Tire Pressure : The scan tool displays 0-1020 kPa (0-148 psi).
The scan tool displays tire pressure data received from the RF tire pressure
sensor. The scan tool will display 1020 kPa (148 psi) until
the vehicle is driven and RF tire pressure sensor information is received.
RR Tire Pressure : The scan tool displays 0-1020 kPa (0-148 psi).
The scan tool displays tire pressure data received from the RR tire pressure
sensor. The scan tool will display 1020 kPa (148 psi) until
the vehicle is driven and RR tire pressure sensor information is received.
LF Tire Status : The scan tool displays Data Pending or OK. The scan tool displays
Data Pending until the vehicle is driven and LF tire pressure sensor information
is received. When LF tire pressure information is received, the LF tire
   status will change to OK.
RF Tire Status : The scan tool displays Data Pending or OK. The scan tool displays
Data Pending until the vehicle is driven and RF tire pressure sensor information
is received. When RF tire pressure information is received, the RF tire
   status will change to OK.
RR Tire Status : The scan tool displays Data Pending or OK. The scan tool displays
Data Pending until the vehicle is driven and RR tire pressure sensor information
is received. When RR tire pressure information is received, the RR tire
   status will change to OK.
