Makes 🢒 Chevrolet 🢒 2009 🢒 Equinox 🢒 Engine 🢒 Engine Mechanical - 2.8L, 3.0L, 3.2L, or 3.6L 🢒 Cylinder Head Replacement - Right Side

Removal Procedure
  1. Remove the right bank secondary timing chain. Refer to Secondary Camshaft Drive Chain Replacement - Right Side.
  2. Remove the right side catalytic converter. Refer to Catalytic Converter Replacement - Right Side.
  3. Remove the ground wires from the cylinder head.
  4. Disconnect and unclip the heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) wiring harness.
  5. Unbolt the power steering hose retainer.

  6. Using the aid of an assistant, remove the cylinder head with the exhaust manifold. Refer to Cylinder Head Removal - Right Side.

    7. Object Number: 902817 Size: SH
  7. Remove and discard the cylinder head gasket.
  8. Clean and inspect the cylinder head and the engine block sealing surfaces. Refer to Cylinder Head Cleaning and Inspection and Engine Block Cleaning and Inspection.
  9. If necessary, perform the following steps:
    10. 9.1. Remove the exhaust manifold from the cylinder head. Refer to Exhaust Manifold Removal - Right Side.
    9.2. Remove the camshaft. Refer to Camshaft Removal - Right Side.
    9.3. Disassemble the cylinder head. Refer to Cylinder Head Disassemble.

Installation Procedure
  1. If necessary, perform the following steps:
    2. 1.1. Assemble the cylinder head. Refer to Cylinder Head Assemble.
    1.2. Install the camshaft. Refer to Camshaft Installation - Right Side.
    1.3. Install the exhaust manifold to the cylinder head. Refer to Exhaust Manifold Installation - Right Side.

  2. Install a NEW cylinder head gasket.

    3. Object Number: 902818 Size: SH
  3. Using the aid of an assistant, carefully install the cylinder head with the exhaust manifold to the engine. Refer to Cylinder Head Installation - Right Side.
  4. Install the power steering hose retainer.
  5. Connect and clip the HO2S wiring harness.
  6. Install the ground wires to the cylinder head.
  7. Install the right side catalytic converter. Refer to Catalytic Converter Replacement - Right Side.
  8. Install the right bank secondary timing chain. Refer to Secondary Camshaft Drive Chain Replacement - Right Side.
