- Clean the oil pan in solvent.
 
Caution: Wear safety glasses in order to avoid eye damage.
- Dry with compressed air.
 
- Inspect the oil pan for the following conditions:
 
| •  | The drain plug hole for damaged threads. | 
 
| •  | Gouges or damage to the oil pan sealing surfaces | 
 
| •  | Damage to the oil pan baffle | 
 
| •  | Dents or damage to the exterior of the oil pan | 
 
| •  | An oil pan that is dented may interfere with the position of the oil
pump screen or not distribute oil properly in the pan sump area. | 
 
| •  | Damage to the oil level indicator tube area | 
 
| •  | Damage to the oil pan gasket. |
