The purpose of New Product Information is to highlight
or indicate important product changes from the previous model year.
Changes may include one or more of the following items:
| • | Torque values and/or fastener tightening strategies |
| • | Changed engine specifications |
| • | New sealants and/or adhesives |
| • | Disassembly and assembly procedure revisions |
| • | Engine mechanical diagnostic procedure revisions |
| • | New special tools required |
| • | A component comparison from the previous year |
Disassembly and Assembly Procedure Revisions
| • | The repair procedures in the on-vehicle portion of the service
manual have been updated to remove duplicate art and procedural steps. |
| • | The engine overhaul procedures in the unit repair portion of the
service manual have been updated to remove duplicate art and procedural steps. |
Component Comparison from the Previous Model Year
| • | All SAE fasteners on the engine assembly have been updated to
metric fasteners. |
| • | The water pump pulley is now press-fit to the water pump drive
shaft. The water pump and pulley are now serviced as an assembly. |
| • | Redesigned valve rocker arm cover flange. The valve rocker arm
cover flange now incorporates a small step where RTV is to be applied to aid
in sealing. |
