Electronic Brake Control Module Replacement 4500, 5500

Removal Procedure

    Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in the Preface section.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

    2. Object Number: 1500641 Size: SH
  2. Remove the electrical connector bolt from electronic brake control module (EBCM).
  3. Disconnect the electrical connector from EBCM.
  4. Remove the bolts and washers and remove the EBCM from the brake pressure modulator valve (BPMV).

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 1500641 Size: SH
  1. Install EBCM to the BPMV.

    2. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  2. Install the EBCM mounting bolts and washers.

    3. Tighten
    Tighten the EBCM mounting bolts to 8 N·m (71 lb in).

  3. Connect the EBCM electrical connector.
  4. Install the EBCM electrical connector bolt.

    5. Tighten
    Tighten the EBCM electrical connector bolt to 2 N·m (18 lb in).

  5. Connect the negative battery cable.
  6. Perform the diagnostic system check. Refer to Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle .
  7. Refer to Control Module References for programming and setup information.

Electronic Brake Control Module Replacement 6500, 7500, 8500 W/JE3

Removal Procedure

    Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in the Preface section.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

    2. Object Number: 1500639 Size: SH
  2. Remove the electrical connector bolt from electronic brake control module (EBCM).
  3. Disconnect the electrical connector from EBCM.
  4. Remove the bolts and washers and remove the EBCM from the bracket.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 1500639 Size: SH
  1. Install EBCM to the bracket.

    2. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  2. Install the EBCM mounting bolts and washers.

    3. Tighten
    Tighten the EBCM mounting bolts to 8 N·m (71 lb in).

  3. Connect the EBCM electrical connector.
  4. Install the EBCM electrical connector bolt.

    5. Tighten
    Tighten the EBCM electrical connector bolt to 2 N·m (18 lb in).

  5. Connect the negative battery cable.
  6. Perform the diagnostic system check.
  7. Refer to Control Module References for programming and setup information.

Removal Procedure

    Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in the Preface section.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

    2. Object Number: 1500646 Size: SH
  2. Remove the electrical connector bolt from electronic brake control module (EBCM).
  3. Disconnect the electrical connector from EBCM.
  4. Remove the bolts and washers and remove the EBCM from the bracket.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 1500646 Size: SH
  1. Install EBCM to the bracket.

    2. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  2. Install the EBCM mounting bolts and washers.

    3. Tighten
    Tighten the EBCM mounting bolts to 8 N·m (71 lb in).

  3. Connect the EBCM electrical connector.
  4. Install the EBCM electrical connector bolt.

    5. Tighten
    Tighten the EBCM electrical connector bolt to 2 N·m (18 lb in).

  5. Connect the negative battery cable.
  6. Perform the diagnostic system check.
  7. Refer to Control Module References for programming and setup information.
