Valve Rocker Arm Cover Replacement w/o CTF

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.
2. Remove the air cleaner assembly. Remove to Air Cleaner Replacement in Engine Controls - 7.8L.
3. Remove the engine cover. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement in Interior Trim.



4. Remove the PCV hose from the valve cover.
5. Remove the engine wiring harness from clips at the rocker cover.
6. Remove the power steering pipe clamp nuts and clamps at the valve rocker cover and the intake manifold.
7. Remove the valve rocker arm cover bolts.
8. Remove the valve rocker arm cover and gasket.

1. Install the valve rocker arm cover and gasket.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.




2. Install the valve rocker arm cover bolts.

Tighten
Tighten the valve rocker arm cover bolts to 13 N·m (113 lb in).

3. Connect the negative battery cable.
4. Install the PCV hose to the valve cover and retainer.
5. Reposition the power steering hoses.
6. Install the power steering pipe clamps and fasteners.
7. Install the engine wiring harness from the clips at the rocker cover.
8. Install the engine cover. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement in Interior Trim.
9. Install the air cleaner layer. Refer to Air Cleaner Replacement in Engine Controls - 7.8L.
