The turbocharger learn procedure is required when the following service procedures have been performed:
|     •  | The turbocharger vane position control solenoid valve replacement | 
 
|     •  | The turbocharger vane position sensor replacement | 
 
|     •  | The engine control module (ECM) replacement | 
 
|     •  | The turbocharger replacement | 
 
|     •  | Any service to the turbocharger components | 
 
Failure to perform the turbocharger learn procedure may result in setting DTCs.
- Install a scan tool.
 
- Monitor the ECM for DTCs with a scan tool. If any DTCs are set, refer to 
Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) List - Vehicle
.
 
- Perform the following steps:
 
| •  | Block the drive wheels. | 
 
| •  | The vehicle must be in Park or Neutral. | 
 
| •  | Start and idle the engine. | 
 
| •  | Allow the engine operating temperature to exceed 72°C (162°F). | 
 
Important: While the learn procedure is in progress, the throttle should remain at idle. DO NOT change the accelerator pedal position during this procedure.
- Allow the ECM to learn the new turbocharger positions.
 
- Clear any DTCs. The turbocharger learn procedure is complete. If any DTCs reset, refer to 
Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) List - Vehicle
.
 
- Turn OFF the ignition for 30 seconds after the learn procedure is completed successfully.
