Removal Procedure

    Object Number: 1728393 Size: SH
  1. Remove the upper left valve rocker arm cover. Refer to Valve Rocker Arm Cover Replacement - Upper Left Side .
  2. Remove the glow plug nuts.
  3. Remove the engine wire harness at glow plugs.
  4. Remove the fuel injectors. Refer to Fuel Injector Replacement .
  5. Remove the fuel injectors return hose clamp at the left rear of engine (1).
  6. Remove the fuel feed and return line clamp bolt.

    7. Object Number: 1335926 Size: SH
  7. Remove the lower valve rocker arm cover bolts.
  8. Remove the lower valve rocker arm cover.
  9. Remove the gasket from the lower valve rocker arm cover.
  10. Inspect the lower valve rocker arm cover gasket for damage, replace if necessary. Otherwise reuse the old gasket.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 1335926 Size: SH
  1. Install the lower valve rocker arm cover gasket.
  2. Install the lower valve rocker arm cover.
  3. Install the lower valve rocker arm cover bolts.

    4. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 1411029 Size: SH
  4. Tighten the lower valve rocker arm cover bolts.

    5. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts in the sequence shown to 10 N·m (89 lb in).


    Object Number: 1728393 Size: SH
  5. Install the fuel injectors return hose clamp at the left rear of engine (1).
  6. Install the fuel feed and return line clamp bolt.

    7. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  7. Install the fuel injectors. Refer to Fuel Injector Replacement .
  8. Install the engine wire harness to glow plugs.
  9. Install wires and nuts to glow plugs.

    10. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 2 N·m (18 lb in).

  10. Install the upper left valve rocker arm cover. Refer to Valve Rocker Arm Cover Replacement - Upper Left Side .
