Catalytic Converter Replacement L18

1. Remove the exhaust manifold pipe. Refer to Exhaust Manifold Pipe Replacement.



2. Remove the nuts from the tail pipe to the muffler clamp and remove the clamp.
3. Remove the catalytic converter and muffler tail pipe.

1. Install the catalytic converter muffler to the tail pipe and on hangers.

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

2. Install the tail pipe and clamp.

Tighten
Tighten the nuts to 29 N·m (21 lb ft).

3. Install the exhaust manifold pipe. Refer to Exhaust Manifold Pipe Replacement.
4. Check for clearance and alignment.

Catalytic Converter Replacement LMM

1. Remove the exhaust manifold pipe. Refer to Exhaust Manifold Pipe Replacement.
2. Remove the exhaust pressure differential sensor pipe bracket bolt (1).
3. Remove the catalytic converter hanger from the insulator (2).



4. Remove the catalytic converter nuts (1) from the particulate filter.
5. Remove the catalytic converter.
6. Remove and discard the catalytic converter to particulate filter gasket (2).

1. Install a NEW gasket (2) to the particulate filter studs.
2. Install the catalytic converter.

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

3. Install the catalytic converter nuts (1) to the particulate filter.

Tighten
Tighten the nuts to 45 N·m (33 lb ft).




4. Install the catalytic converter hanger to the insulator (2).
5. Install the exhaust pressure differential sensor pipe bracket bolt (1).

Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 9 N·m (80 lb in).

6. Install the exhaust manifold pipe. Refer to Exhaust Manifold Pipe Replacement.
