Battery Replacement C4/C5 - Single Battery

Removal Procedure

    Object Number: 1869364 Size: SH
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.
  2. Remove the battery cover bolts and cover, if required.

    3. Object Number: 867154 Size: SH
  3. If equipped without regular production options (RPO's) ANC/B3D, remove the battery tray support bolts and support.

    4. Object Number: 1869130 Size: SH
  4. If equipped with a side post battery perform the following steps, otherwise proceed to step 13.
  5. Open the positive battery cable cover (3).
  6. Loosen the positive battery cable bolt (4).
  7. Reposition the positive battery cable from the battery.

  8. Remove the battery cable clip nut (1), if required.

    9. Object Number: 1869367 Size: SH
  9. Remove the battery cable clip bolt (1), if required.
  10. Reposition the battery cables as required.

    11. Object Number: 1869370 Size: SH
  11. Remove the battery hold down retainer bolts (1) and retainers (2).
  12. Remove the battery.

  13. If equipped with top post battery perform the following steps, remove the positive battery cable nut cover (1).
  14. Remove the positive battery cable nut (2).
  15. Remove the positive battery cable (3) from the battery.

  16. Remove the battery cable clip (1) from the battery tray bracket, if required.
  17. Reposition the battery cables as required.

  18. Remove the battery hold down retainer nuts (3), retainer (1), and retainer studs (2).
  19. Remove the battery.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 1869370 Size: SH
  1. If equipped with a side post battery perform the following steps, otherwise proceed to step 10.
  2. Install the battery.

    3. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

  3. Install the battery hold down retainers (2) and bolts (1).

    4. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  4. Position the battery cables as required.
  5. Install the battery cable clip bolt (1), if required.

    6. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).


    Object Number: 1869368 Size: SH
  6. Install the battery cable clip nut (1), if required.

    7. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).


    Object Number: 1869130 Size: SH
  7. Position the positive battery cable to the battery.
  8. Tighten the positive battery cable bolt (4).

    9. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 17 N·m (13 lb ft).

  9. Close the positive battery cable cover (3). Proceed to step 17.

  10. If equipped with top post battery perform the following steps, install the battery.
  11. Install the battery hold down retainer studs (2), retainer (1) and nuts (3).

    12. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  12. Position the battery cables as required.
  13. Install the battery cable clip (1) to the battery tray bracket, if required.

    14. Object Number: 1869365 Size: SH
  14. Install the positive battery cable (3) to the battery.
  15. Install the positive battery cable nut (2).

    16. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 22 N·m (16 lb ft).

  16. Install the positive battery cable nut cover (1).

    17. Object Number: 867154 Size: SH
  17. If equipped without RPO's ANC/B3D, install the battery tray support and bolts.

    18. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).


    Object Number: 1869364 Size: SH
  18. Install the battery cover and bolts, if required.

    19. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 11 N·m (97 lb in).

  19. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.

Battery Replacement C 6/7/8

Removal Procedure

    Object Number: 215008 Size: SH
  1. Remove the battery carrier cover.

    2. Object Number: 826390 Size: SH
  2. Disconnect the negative cable from the negative battery terminal.
  3. Disconnect the positive cable from the positive battery terminal.

    4. Object Number: 826389 Size: SH
  4. Remove the battery hold-down retainer nut or bolt.
  5. Remove the battery from the carrier.
  6. Inspect the following components for damage:
    7. • The battery
    • The cables
    • The connectors
    • Verify that the carrier is free from damage or foreign objects.
    • Find and correct the cause of damage if any damage is noted.
    • Clean the parts as necessary.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 826389 Size: SH
  1. Install the battery into the cleaned carrier.
  2. Install the battery hold-down retainer or top bar.

    3. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

  3. Install the hold-down nut or the bolt.

    4. Tighten

        • Tighten the battery hold-down bolt to 23 N·m (17 lb ft).
        • Tighten the top bar nut to 17 N·m (13 lb ft).

  4. Connect the positive cable to the positive battery terminal.
  5. Connect the negative cable to the negative battery terminal.

    6. Tighten

        • Tighten the side post terminal bolt to 15 N·m (11 lb ft).
        • Tighten the top post terminal nut to 17 N·m (13 lb ft).

  6. Install the battery carrier cover.

Battery Replacement C4/C5 - Dual Batteries

Removal Procedure

    Object Number: 1869364 Size: SH
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.
  2. Remove the battery cover bolts and cover, if required.

    3. Object Number: 867154 Size: SH
  3. If equipped without regular production options (RPO's) ANC/B3D, remove the battery tray support bolts and support.

    4. Object Number: 1869131 Size: SH
  4. Remove the negative battery cable nut (4).
  5. Remove the negative battery cable (5) from the second battery.
  6. Remove the positive battery cable nut covers (10).
  7. Remove the positive battery cable nuts (1 and 8).
  8. Remove the positive battery cable (7) from the first battery.
  9. Remove the positive battery cable (6) from the first and second battery.

  10. Remove the battery cable clip nut (1), if required.

    11. Object Number: 1869367 Size: SH
  11. Remove the battery cable clip bolt (1), if required.

    12. Object Number: 1869379 Size: SH
  12. Remove the auxiliary battery cable junction block nuts (2).
  13. Remove the auxiliary battery cable junction block (1) from the studs.
  14. Disconnect the electrical connector from the auxiliary battery cable electrical connector.
  15. Reposition the auxiliary and 12 volt battery cables as required.

  16. Remove the battery hold down retainer nuts (3), retainer (1) and retainer studs (2).
  17. Remove the appropriate battery.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 1869377 Size: SH
  1. Install the appropriate battery.

    2. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

  2. Install the battery hold down retainer studs (2), retainer (1), and nuts (3).

    3. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  3. Position the auxiliary and 12 volt battery cables as required.
  4. Install the auxiliary battery cable junction block (1) to the studs.
  5. Install the auxiliary battery cable junction block nuts (2).

    6. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 4.5 N·m (40 lb in).

  6. Connect the electrical connector to the auxiliary battery cable electrical connector.

    7. Object Number: 1869367 Size: SH
  7. Install the battery cable clip bolt (1), if required.

    8. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).


    Object Number: 1869368 Size: SH
  8. Install the battery cable clip nut (1), if required.

    9. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).


    Object Number: 1869131 Size: SH
  9. Install the positive battery cable (6) to the first and second batteries.
  10. Install the positive battery cable (7) to the first battery.
  11. Install the positive battery cable nuts (1 and 8).

    12. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 22 N·m (16 lb ft).

  12. Install the positive battery cable nut covers (10).
  13. Install the negative battery cable (5) to the second battery.
  14. Install the negative battery cable nut (4).

    15. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 22 N·m (16 lb ft).

  15. If equipped without RPO's ANC/B3D, install the battery tray support and bolts.

    16. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  16. Install the battery cover and bolts, if required.

    17. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 11 N·m (97 lb in).

  17. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.

Battery Replacement C4/C5 - Triple Batteries

Removal Procedure

    Object Number: 1869364 Size: SH
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.
  2. Remove the battery cover bolts and cover, if required.

    3. Object Number: 867154 Size: SH
  3. If equipped without regular production options (RPO's) ANC/B3D, remove the battery tray support bolts and support.

    4. Object Number: 1869133 Size: SH
  4. Remove the negative battery cable nut (4).
  5. Remove the negative battery cable (5) from the second and third batteries.
  6. Remove the positive battery cable nut covers (1, 11, and 13).
  7. Remove the positive battery cable nuts (10, 12, and 14).
  8. Remove the positive battery cable (9) from the first and second batteries.
  9. Remove the positive battery cable (2) from the second and third batteries.

  10. Remove the battery cable clip nut (1), if required.

    11. Object Number: 1869367 Size: SH
  11. Remove the battery cable clip bolt (1), if required.

  12. Remove the auxiliary battery cable junction block nuts (2).
  13. Remove the auxiliary battery cable junction block (1) from the studs.
  14. Disconnect the electrical connector from the auxiliary battery cable electrical connector.
  15. Reposition the auxiliary and 12 volt battery cables as required.

  16. Remove the battery hold down retainer nuts (3), retainer (1) and retainer studs (2).
  17. Remove the appropriate battery.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 1869378 Size: SH
  1. Install the appropriate battery.

    2. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

  2. Install the battery hold down retainer studs (2), retainer (1), and nuts (3).

    3. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  3. Position the auxiliary and 12 volt battery cables as required.
  4. Install the auxiliary battery cable junction block (1) to the studs.
  5. Install the auxiliary battery cable junction block nuts (2).

    6. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 4.5 N·m (40 lb in).

  6. Connect the electrical connector to the auxiliary battery cable electrical connector.

    7. Object Number: 1869367 Size: SH
  7. Install the battery cable clip bolt (1), if required.

    8. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).


    Object Number: 1869368 Size: SH
  8. Install the battery cable clip nut (1), if required.

    9. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).


    Object Number: 1869133 Size: SH
  9. Install the positive battery cable (2) to the second and third batteries.
  10. Install the positive battery cable (9) to the first and second batteries.
  11. Install the positive battery cable nuts (10, 12, and 14).

    12. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 22 N·m (16 lb ft).

  12. Install the positive battery cable nut covers (1, 11, and 13).
  13. Install the negative battery cable (5) to the second and third batteries.
  14. Install the negative battery cable nut (4).

    15. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 22 N·m (16 lb ft).

  15. If equipped without RPO's ANC/B3D, install the battery tray support and bolts.

    16. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).


    Object Number: 1869364 Size: SH
  16. Install the battery cover and bolts, if required.

    17. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 11 N·m (97 lb in).

  17. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.
