Spark Plug Wire Harness Replacement 3.4L
                    
Removal Procedure
- Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
 
- Note the position of the
spark plug wire retaining clips. Remove the spark plug wire retaining clips
   from the engine.
 
Notice: Twist the spark plug boot one-half turn in order to release the boot.
Pull on the spark plug boot only. Do not pull on the spark plug wire or the
wire could be damaged.
- Note the position of the spark plug wire(s). Remove the spark plug wires
(2,4,6) from the front spark plugs by twisting the boot 1/2 turn before removing
   the spark plug boot(s).
 
- Note the position of the
spark plug wire(s). Remove the spark plug wires (1,3,5) from the rear spark
   plugs by twisting the boot 1/2 turn before removing the spark plug boot(s).
 
- Remove the spark plug wire retaining clips from the rear of the
engine.
 
- Remove the spark plug
wires from the ignition coils.
 
- Remove the spark plug wires from the engine.
 
- If replacing the spark plug wires, transfer any of the following:
 
| •  | Spark plug wire conduit | 
 
| •  | Spark plug wire retaining clips | 
 
Installation Procedure
- Position the spark plug wire(s) to the engine.
 
- Install the spark plug
wires to the ignition coils in the proper position.
 
- install the spark plug
wires (1,3,5) to the rear spark plugs.
 
- Install the spark plug wire retaining clips from the rear of the
engine.
 
- Install the spark plug
wire (2,4,6) to the front spark plugs.
 
- Install the spark plug
wire retaining clips to the front of the engine.

Removal Procedure
Tools Required
J 38491  Spark Plug
        Heat Shield Removal Tool
- Turn OFF the ignition switch.
 
- Remove the fuel injector sight shield. Refer to 
Fuel Injector Sight Shield Replacement 
 in Engine
Mechanical - 3.8L.
 
Notice: Twist the spark plug boot one-half turn in order to release the boot.
Pull on the spark plug boot only. Do not pull on the spark plug wire or the
wire could be damaged.
- Remove the spark plug wires (2,4,6) from the spark plugs at the rear
of the engine using the following steps:
 
| •  | Note the position of the spark plug wires before removing the
wires. | 
 
| •  | Twist the spark plug boot 1/2 turn before removing the boot. | 
 
| •  | Gently pry the heat shield up from spark plugs using the J 38491 
. | 
 
| •  | Remove the spark plug wire from the  spark plugs at rear of the
engine. | 
 
- Remove the spark plug
wires (1,3,5) from the spark plugs at the front of the engine using the following
       steps:
 
| •  | Note the position of the spark plug wires before removing the
wires. | 
 
| •  | Twist the spark plug boot 1/2 turn before removing the boot. | 
 
| •  | Gently pry the heat shield up from spark plugs using the J 38491 
. | 
 
| •  | Remove the spark plug wires form the spark plugs at the front
of the engine. | 
 
- Remove the spark plug
wires from the ignition coils.
 
- Remove the spark plug wire retaining clips from the rear, front
and top of the engine.
 
- Remove the spark plug wires from the engine.
 
- When replacing the spark plug wires transfer any of the following:
 
| •  | Spark plug wire conduit | 
 
| •  | Spark plug wire retaining clips | 
 
Installation Procedure
- Position the spark plug wire(s) to the engine.
 
- Install the spark plug wire retaining clips from the rear, front
and top of the engine.
 
- Install the spark plug
wires to the ignition coil in the proper position.
 
- Install the spark plug
wires (1,3,5) to the spark plugs in the proper position at the front of the
       engine.
 
- Install the spark plug
wires (2,4,6) to the spark plugs in the proper position at the rear of the
       engine.
 
- Install the fuel injector sight shield. Refer to 
Fuel Injector Sight Shield Replacement 
 in Engine
