Removal Procedure

    Object Number: 401496 Size: SH

    Caution: This vehicle is equipped with a Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) System. Failure to follow the correct procedure could cause the following conditions:

       • Air bag deployment
       • Personal injury
       • Unnecessary SIR system repairs
    In order to avoid the above conditions, observe the following guidelines:
       • Refer to SIR Component Views in order to determine if you are performing service on or near the SIR components or the SIR wiring.
       • If you are performing service on or near the SIR components or the SIR wiring, disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System.

  1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System in SIR.
  2. Remove the steering column trim covers from the steering column. Refer to Steering Column Trim Cover Replacement - On Vehicle .
  3. Disconnect the steering column electrical connectors.

  4. Remove the wire harness assembly (1) from the steering column and the wire harness strap (2).

    5. Object Number: 306234 Size: SH
  5. Slide the 2 connectors (2) of the turn signal and multifunction switch assembly out of the bulkhead connector (1).

    6. Object Number: 306267 Size: SH
  6. Remove the key alarm connector (1) from the lock module assembly (2) in the following way:
    7. 6.1. Rotate the key alarm connector (1) 90 degrees.
    6.2. Pull the key alarm connector (1) out of the lock module assembly (2).
    6.3. Remove the passkey connector from the lock module assembly (2).

  7. Remove the connector (2) from the electric park lock (1), for vehicles equipped with floor shifters.

    8. Object Number: 389639 Size: SH
  8. Slide the ignition and key alarm switch assembly (2) out of the lock module assembly (1).

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 389639 Size: SH
  1. Slide the ignition and key alarm switch assembly (2) into the lock module assembly (1).

    2. Object Number: 306267 Size: SH
  2. Install the key alarm connector (1) into the lock module assembly (2).
    3. 2.1. Push the key alarm connector (1) into the lock module assembly (2).
    2.2. Rotate the key alarm connector (1) 90 degrees so that the key alarm connector (1) locks into place.
    2.3. Install the passkey connector into the lock module assembly (2).

  3. Snap the electric park lock (2) onto the lock module assembly (1), for vehicles equipped with floor shifters.

    4. Object Number: 389654 Size: SH
  4. Reconnect the connector (2) to the electric park lock (1), for vehicles equipped with floor shifters.

    5. Object Number: 306234 Size: SH
  5. Slide the 2 connectors (2) of the turn signal and multifunction switch assembly into the bulkhead connector (1).

    6. Object Number: 415293 Size: SH
  6. Attach the wire harness assembly (1) to the steering column wire harness strap (2).

    7. Object Number: 401496 Size: SH
  7. Connect the steering column electrical connectors to the vehicle.
  8. Install the trim covers to the column. Refer to Steering Column Trim Cover Replacement - On Vehicle .
  9. Enable the SIR system. Refer to Enabling the SIR System in SIR.
