Did you perform the Horns Diagnostic System Check?

Inspect the horn fuse.

Is the horn fuse open?

Repair the short to ground in the controlled voltage CKT or the horns. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Is the repair complete?

  1. Remove the horn relay from the underhood fuse block (UFB).
  2. Test terminal 2 and terminal 3 for battery positive voltage in the horn relay socket. Refer to Troubleshooting with a Test Lamp in Wiring Systems.

Does the test light illuminate?

Go to Step 6

Replace the UFB.

Is the repair complete?

  1. Connect a test light between terminal 1 and terminal 2 in the horn relay socket. Refer to Troubleshooting with a Test Lamp in Wiring Systems.
  2. Press the horn button.

Does the test light illuminate?

--

Go to Step 10

  1. Disconnect C211.
  2. Test ground CKT with a DMM between cavity A11 in C211 and ground. Refer to Testing for Continuity in Wiring Systems.
  3. Press the horn button.

Is the resistance within the specified value?

0-5 ohms

Inspect the horn switch and harness between C211 and horn switch. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Is the repair complete?

Locate and repair the open in the ground CKT between the horn relay and C211. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Is the repair complete?

Connect a fused jumper between cavity 3 and cavity 5 of the horn relay socket. Refer to Using Fused Jumper Wires in Wiring Systems.

Do the horns sound?

Go to Step 11

Replace the horn relay.

Is the repair complete?

  1. Disconnect both horns.
  2. Connect a fused jumper between cavity 3 and cavity 5 of the horn relay socket. Using Fused Jumper Wires in Wiring Systems.
  3. Test for voltage at cavity B of each horn. Refer to Troubleshooting with a Test Lamp in Wiring Systems.

Did the test light illuminate?

Repair the open in the controlled voltage CKT. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Is the repair complete?

Test ground CKT cavity A for resistance to ground. Refer to Testing for Continuity in Wiring Systems.

Is the resistance within the specified value?

0-5ohms

Replace both horns. Refer to Horn Replacement - Left Side and Horn Replacement - Right Side .

Is the repair complete?
