Removal Procedure

    Object Number: 1872279 Size: SH
  1. Drain the engine coolant and the engine block. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling.
  2. Remove the charge air inlet pipe. Refer to Charge Air Cooler Inlet Pipe Replacement.
  3. Remove the cooling fan shroud bracket bolts (1).
  4. Remove the cooling fan shroud bracket (2).

  5. Loosen the water pump outlet pipe nuts at the coolant pipe.

    6. Object Number: 309158 Size: SH
  6. If equipped, remove the oil pan skid plate bolts and plate.

    7. Object Number: 660299 Size: SH
  7. Remove the oil filter.

    8. Object Number: 1334852 Size: SH
  8. Remove the oil cooler adapter nuts and studs from the flywheel housing.

    9. Object Number: 1336118 Size: SH
  9. Remove the oil cooler assembly bolts.

    10. Object Number: 1334855 Size: SH
  10. Remove the oil cooler adapter bolts from the oil filter adapter/oil cooler.
  11. Remove the oil cooler and adapter.

  12. Remove the coolant pipe nuts.

    13. Object Number: 1336117 Size: SH
  13. Remove the coolant pipe.
  14. Remove and discard the oil filter adapter/oil cooler O-ring seals.
  15. Remove and discard the coolant pipe O-ring and gasket.
  16. If required, clean and inspect the oil filter adapter/oil cooler. Refer to Oil Filter Adapter and Oil Cooler Assembly Cleaning and Inspection .

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 1336117 Size: SH
  1. Install new coolant pipe O-ring and gasket.
  2. Install new oil filter adapter/oil cooler O-ring seals.
  3. Install the coolant pipe.

    4. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  4. Install the coolant pipe nuts.

    5. Tighten
    Tighten the coolant pipe nuts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  5. Install the oil cooler and adapter.
  6. Install the oil cooler adapter bolts to the oil filter adapter/oil cooler.

    7. Tighten
    Tighten the oil cooler adapter bolts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  7. Install the oil cooler assembly bolts.

    8. Tighten
    Tighten the oil cooler assembly bolts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  8. Install the oil cooler adapter nuts and studs to the flywheel housing.

    9. Tighten

        • Tighten the oil cooler adapter nuts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).
        • Tighten the oil cooler adapter studs to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  9. Install the oil filter.

    10. Object Number: 309158 Size: SH
  10. If removed, install the oil pan skid plate bolts and plate.

    11. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).


    Object Number: 1336115 Size: SH
  11. Install the water pump outlet pipe nuts at the coolant pipe.

    12. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).


    Object Number: 1872279 Size: SH
  12. Position the cooling fan shroud bracket (2).
  13. Install the cooling fan shroud bracket bolts (1).

    14. Tighten
    Tighten the fan shroud bolt to 8 N·m (71 lb in).

    Tighten
    Tighten the fan shroud bracket to engine block bolts to 58N·m (63 lb ft).

  14. Install the charge air inlet pipe. Refer to Charge Air Cooler Inlet Pipe Replacement.
  15. Fill the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling .
