Tools Required

    • DW220-020A-01 Differential Bearing Puller
    • DW220-020A-04 Differential Bearing Plate Adapter
    • J 8092 (KM-46651 or DW 340-010) Universal Driver Handle - 3/4 in. - 10
    • CH 46558 (DW 340-020) Front Wheel Bearing Race Installer
    • CH 46559 (DW 340-030) Front Wheel Bearing Installer

Disassembly Procedure

    Object Number: 1222835 Size: SH
  1. Remove the steering knuckle assembly. Refer to Steering Knuckle Replacement .
  2. Remove the bolts from the wheel hub.

    3. Object Number: 1225516 Size: MH
  3. Remove the wheel hub from the knuckle assembly using the J 8092  (1).
  4. Remove the bearing spacer (2).
  5. Remove the brake rotor (3).

    6. Object Number: 1222852 Size: SH
  6. Remove the wheel bearing from the wheel hub using the DW220-020A-01  (1) and DW220-020A-04  (2).

    7. Object Number: 1222846 Size: SH

    Important: Do not reuse the oil seal.

  7. Remove the oil seal from the wheel hub (1).

    8. Object Number: 1222841 Size: SH
  8. Remove the steering knuckle assembly.

    9. Important: Do not reuse the oil seal.

  9. Remove the oil seal (1).
  10. Remove the wheel bearing (2).

    11. Object Number: 1222861 Size: SH
  11. Remove the outer bearing race (1).

    12. Object Number: 1222850 Size: SH
  12. Remove the inner bearing race (1).

Assembly Procedure

    Object Number: 1222844 Size: SH
  1. Assemble the inner bearing race using J 8092  (2) and CH 46558  (1, 3).

    2. Object Number: 1222840 Size: SH
  2. Assemble the outer bearing race using J 8092  (2) and CH 46558  (1, 3).

    3. Object Number: 1222854 Size: SH
  3. Assemble the outer wheel bearing (2).
  4. Assemble the outer wheel bearing oil seal (1).

    5. Object Number: 1222848 Size: SH
  5. Install the brake rotor (5).
  6. Install the wheel hub to the steering knuckle assembly (4) temporarily.
  7. Press the outer wheel bearing into the wheel hub using J 8092  (2) and the CH 46559  (1, 3).

    8. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 1222843 Size: SH
  8. Install the bolts (1).

    9. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 65 N·m (48 lb ft).

  9. Install the bearing spacer (1).

    10. Object Number: 1222863 Size: SH
  10. Press the inner wheel bearing into the wheel hub using the J 8092  (2) and CH 46559  (1, 3).

    11. Object Number: 1222865 Size: SH
  11. Install the inner wheel bearing oil seal (1).
  12. Install the steering knuckle assembly. Refer to Steering Knuckle Replacement .
