Removal Procedure
Important: When replacing a speedometer or an odometer assembly, the law requires
the odometer reading of the replacement unit to be set to register the same
mileage as the prior odometer.
If the same mileage cannot be set, then the law requires the following
actions to take place:
• | Set the replacement odometer at zero |
• | Install a label on the driver's door frame showing the following
information: |
- | The previous odometer reading |
- | The date of replacement |
- Remove the instrument cluster. Refer to
Instrument Cluster Replacement
.
- Remove the instrument cluster lens and bezel assembly (2)
from the instrument cluster (1) by releasing the 6 black plastic
tabs.
Important: Do not remove the needle from the speedometer. There is no detent or
flat spot on the shaft in order to indicate the correct placement.
- Remove the following components from the instrument cluster (2):
Installation Procedure
- Install the speedometer
to the instrument cluster (2). Secure the speedometer with the 4 screws (4).
- Install the instrument
cluster lens and bezel assembly (2) to the instrument cluster (1).
Ensure that the plastic retaining tabs are fully engaged.
