Tools Required

1. Raise the vehicle. Support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
2. Support the transmission with a suitable hydraulic jack.
3. Remove the transfer case from the vehicle. Refer to Transfer Case Replacement in Transfer Case.



4. Remove the transfer adapter case seal (1) from the transfer adapter case using the J 23129 and the J 6125-B .
5. Inspect the transfer adapter case for cracks and other damage. Replace as necessary.

1. Apply a thin coat of J 36850 to the transfer adapter case seal surface.
2. Install the new transfer adapter case seal into the transfer adapter case using a J 37752 .
3. Apply J 36850 to the new transfer adapter case seal lip.
4. Install the transfer case into the vehicle. Refer to Transfer Case Replacement in Transfer Case.
5. Remove the hydraulic jack from under the transmission.
6. Lower the vehicle.
