 Hose Clamp Pliers
Removal Procedure
- Drain the cooling system. Refer to 
Cooling System Draining and Filling
 .
 
- Carefully remove the throttle body air inlet duct. Refer to 
Air Cleaner Inlet Duct Replacement
 in Engine Controls - 3.5L.
 
- Remove the spark plug wires at the left bank.
 
- Using the 
J 38185 
 , reposition the hose clamp at the thermostat housing. 
 
- Remove the upper radiator hose from the housing.
 
- Disconnect the heater outlet hose from the thermostat bypass pipe. 
 
- Remove the thermostat bypass pipe to throttle body fasteners.
 
- Using the 
J 38185 
 , reposition the hose clamp at the thermostat
bypass pipe.
 
- Disconnect the thermostat bypass pipe hose.
 
- Remove the thermostat bypass pipe-to-engine front cover bolt.
 
- Remove the thermostat bypass pipe.
 
Installation Procedure
- Install the thermostat bypass pipe.
 
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
- Install the thermostat bypass pipe-to-engine front cover bolt.
 
Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 11 N·m (98 lb in).
- Connect the thermostat bypass pipe hose.
 
- Using the 
J 38185 
 , reposition and secure the hose clamp at the thermostat bypass pipe.
 
- Install the thermostat bypass pipe to the throttle body stud.
 
- Install the thermostat bypass pipe to throttle body fasteners.
 
Tighten
Tighten to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).
- Connect the heater outlet hose to the thermostat bypass pipe .
 
- Connect the inlet hose at the thermostat housing.
 
- Using the 
J 38185 
 , reposition and install the inlet hose clamp at the thermostat housing.
 
- Install the spark plug wires at the left bank.
 
- Install the air inlet duct. Refer to 
Air Cleaner Inlet Duct Replacement
 in Engine Controls - 3.5L.
 
- Fill the cooling system. Refer to 
Cooling System Draining and Filling
 .
 
- Inspect for leaks.
