Removal Procedure

    Object Number: 1712672 Size: SH
  1. Disconnect the electrical connector from the right knock sensor.
  2. Remove the catalytic converter from the right exhaust manifold. Refer to Catalytic Converter Replacement.
  3. Disconnect the power cord from the coolant heater, if equipped.
  4. Disconnect the engine harness electrical connector from the crankshaft position (CKP) sensor.
  5. Remove the CKP sensor stud (2).
  6. Remove the CKP sensor (1).

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 1712672 Size: SH
  1. Lubricate the CKP sensor O-ring with clean engine oil.
  2. Install the CKP sensor (1).

    3. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  3. Install the CKP sensor stud (2).

    4. Tighten
    Tighten the stud to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  4. Connect the engine harness electrical connector to the CKP sensor.
  5. Connect the power cord to the coolant heater, if equipped.
  6. Install the catalytic converter to the exhaust manifold. Refer to Catalytic Converter Replacement.
  7. Connect the electrical connector to the right knock sensor.
  8. Perform the Crankshaft Position System Variation Learn procedure. Refer to Crankshaft Position System Variation Learn.
