Heater Outlet Hose Replacement with C60

Tools Required

J 38185 Hose Clamp Pliers

Removal Procedure
  1. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling in Engine Cooling.
  2. Remove the left wiper arm linkage nuts.

    3. Reposition the left wiper arm linkage for access.

  3. Disconnect the vacuum hose from the brake booster and reposition.
  4. Remove the air cleaner cover and intake tube. Refer to Air Cleaner Inlet Duct Replacement in Engine Controls -3.4L.

    5. Important: Disconnect the throttle and cruise control cables to prevent bending the cable housings.

  5. Disconnect the throttle and cruise control cables from the TBI mounting bracket .
  6. Remove the transmission fluid filler tube. Refer to Transmission Fluid Filler Tube and Seal Replacement in Automatic Transaxle - 4T65-E.

    7. Object Number: 395311 Size: SH
  7. Disconnect the outlet heater hose (3) from the outlet pipe (4).

    8. Object Number: 819323 Size: SH
  8. Reposition the heater hose clamp using the J 38185 .
  9. Disconnect the outlet heater hose from the heater core.
  10. Remove the outlet heater hose.

Installation Procedure
  1. Install the outlet heater hose.

    2. Object Number: 819323 Size: SH
  2. Connect the outlet heater hose to the heater core.
  3. Position the heater hose clamp using the J 38185 .

    4. Object Number: 395311 Size: SH
  4. Connect the outlet heater hose (3) to the outlet pipe (4).
  5. Install the transmission fluid filler tube. Refer to Transmission Fluid Filler Tube and Seal Replacement in Automatic Transaxle - 4T65-E.
  6. Connect the throttle and cruise control cables to the TBI mounting bracket.
  7. Install the air cleaner cover and intake tube. Refer to Air Cleaner Inlet Duct Replacement in Engine Controls -3.4L.
  8. Connect the vacuum hose to the brake booster .
  9. Install the left wiper arm linkage.

    10. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  10. Install the left wiper arm linkage nuts.

    11. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 5 N·m (44 lb in).

  11. Fill the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling in Engine Cooling.

Heater Outlet Hose Replacement with C69

Tools Required

J 38185 Hose Clamp Pliers

Removal Procedure
  1. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling in Engine Cooling.
  2. Remove the left wiper arm linkage nuts.

    3. Reposition the left wiper arm linkage for access.

  3. Disconnect the vacuum hose from the brake booster and reposition.
  4. Remove the air cleaner cover and intake tube. Refer to Air Cleaner Inlet Duct Replacement in Engine Controls - 3.4L.

    5. Important: Disconnect the throttle and cruise control cables to prevent bending the cable housings.

  5. Disconnect the throttle and cruise control cables from the TBI mounting bracket .
  6. Remove the transmission fluid filler tube. Refer to Transmission Fluid Filler Tube and Seal Replacement in Automatic Transaxle - 4T65-E.
  7. Release the outlet heater hose quick connect from the outlet pipe (4).

    8. Object Number: 395311 Size: SH
  8. Disconnect the outlet heater hose (3) from the outlet pipe (4).

    9. Object Number: 686678 Size: SH
  9. Reposition the outlet heater hose clamp at the heater core using the J 38185 .
  10. Disconnect the outlet heater hose from the heater core.
  11. Reposition the outlet heater hose clamp from the auxiliary heater outlet line using the J 38185 .
  12. Disconnect the outlet heater hose from the auxiliary heater outlet line.
  13. Remove the outlet heater hose.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 686678 Size: SH
  1. Install the outlet heater hose.
  2. Connect the outlet heater hose to the auxiliary heater outlet line.
  3. Reposition the outlet heater hose clamp at the auxiliary heater outlet line using the J 38185 .
  4. Connect the outlet heater hose to the heater core.
  5. Reposition the outlet heater hose clamp at the heater core using the J 38185 .

    6. Object Number: 395311 Size: SH
  6. Connect the outlet heater hose (3) to the outlet pipe (4).
  7. Install the transmission fluid filler tube. Refer to Transmission Fluid Filler Tube and Seal Replacement in Automatic Transaxle - 4T65-E.
  8. Connect the throttle and cruise control cables to the TBI mounting bracket.
  9. Install the air cleaner cover and intake tube. Refer to Air Cleaner Inlet Duct Replacement in Engine Controls - 3.4L.
  10. Connect the vacuum hose to the brake booster.
  11. Install the left wiper arm linkage.

    12. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  12. Install the left wiper arm linkage nuts.

    13. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 5 N·m (44 lb in).

  13. Fill the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling in Engine Cooling.
