Valve Rocker Arm Cover Replacement Engine Left Side

1. Disconnect the battery ground (negative) cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.
2. Remove the fuel injector sight shield. Refer to Fuel Injector Sight Shield Replacement .
3. Disconnect the engine left side spark plug wires. Refer to Spark Plug Wire Harness Replacement in Engine Electrical.
4. Remove the right engine mount strut at the engine. Refer to Engine Mount Strut Replacement .
5. Remove the Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) valve from the engine left side valve rocker arm cover.
6. Remove the engine left side valve rocker arm cover and the rocker arm cover gasket. Refer to Valve Rocker Arm Cover Removal (Left Side) .
7. Clean the valve rocker arm cover. Refer to Valve Rocker Arm Cover Clean and Inspect .
8. Clean the valve rocker arm cover gasket sealing surfaces on the cylinder head and the lower intake manifold.

1. Install the engine left side valve rocker arm cover gasket and the rocker arm cover. Refer to Valve Rocker Arm Cover Installation (Left Side) .
2. Install the Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) valve to the engine left side valve rocker arm cover.
3. Install the right engine mount strut at the engine. Refer to Engine Mount Strut Replacement .
4. Connect the engine left side spark plug wires. Refer to Spark Plug Wire Harness Replacement in Engine Electrical.
5. Install the fuel injector sight shield. Refer to Fuel Injector Sight Shield Replacement .
6. Connect the battery ground (negative) cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.

Valve Rocker Arm Cover Replacement Engine Right Side

1. Disconnect the battery ground (negative) cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.
2. Remove the fuel injector sight shield. Refer to Fuel Injector Sight Shield Replacement .
3. Remove the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement .
4. Remove the generator. Refer to Generator Replacement in Engine Electrical.
5. Remove the generator bracket. Refer to Generator Bracket Replacement in Engine Electrical.
6. Disconnect the engine right side spark plug wires. Refer to Spark Plug Wire Harness Replacement in Engine Electrical.



7. Disconnect the vacuum hoses from the EVAP canister purge solenoid valve.
8. Remove the EVAP canister purge solenoid valve. Refer to Evaporative Emission Canister Purge Solenoid Valve Replacement in Engine Controls - 3.4L.



9. Remove the ignition module bracket with the coils.
10. Remove the vacuum hose from the grommet in the engine right side valve rocker arm cover.
11. Remove the engine right side valve rocker arm cover and the rocker arm cover gasket. Refer to Valve Rocker Arm Cover Removal (Right Side) .
12. Clean the valve rocker arm cover. Refer to Valve Rocker Arm Cover Clean and Inspect .
13. Clean the valve rocker arm cover gasket sealing surfaces on the cylinder head and the lower intake manifold.

1. Install the engine right side valve rocker arm cover gasket and the rocker arm cover. Refer to Valve Rocker Arm Cover Installation (Right Side) .
2. Install the vacuum hose to the grommet in the engine right side valve rocker arm cover. Refer to Engine Controls - 3.4L.



3. Install the ignition coil bracket with coils.
4. Install the EVAP canister purge solenoid valve. Refer to Evaporative Emission Canister Purge Solenoid Valve Replacement in Engine Controls - 3.4L.



5. Connect the vacuum hoses from the EVAP canister purge solenoid valve.
6. Connect the engine right side spark plug wires. Refer to Spark Plug Wire Harness Replacement in Engine Electrical.
7. Install the generator bracket. Refer to Generator Bracket Replacement in Engine Electrical.
8. Install the generator. Refer to Generator Replacement in Engine Electrical.
9. Install the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement .
10. Install the fuel injector sight shield. Refer to Fuel Injector Sight Shield Replacement .
11. Connect the battery ground (negative) cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.
