Removal Procedure
- Recover refrigerant. Refer to 
Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging
 .
 
- Remove the grille. Refer to 
Grille Replacement
.
 
Caution: Do not remove hoses or lines before system is fully discharged. System may be
under pressure and contact with R134a may cause personal injury.
- Remove the condenser hose bolt from the receiver dehydrator .
 
- Remove the condenser hose from the receiver dehydrator.
 
- Remove the evaporator tube bolt from the receiver dehydrator.
 
- Remove the evaporator tube from the receiver dehydrator.
 
- Install caps on the condenser hose and the evaporator tube assembly to prevent moisture entry and oil spillage.
 
- Remove the receiver dehydrator bracket bolts and the receiver dehydrator assembly.
 
- Loosen the receiver dehydrator clamp bolt and remove receiver dehydrator.
 
Installation Procedure
- If replacing the receiver dehydrator add the appropriate amount of PAG oil to the system. Refer to 
Refrigerant System Capacities
 for capacity information.
 
- Install the receiver dehydrator bottle into the clamp but do not tighten.
 
- Install new O-rings. Refer to 
O-Ring Replacement
 .
 
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
Notice: Use only Polyalkylene Glycol Synthetic Refrigerant Oil (PAG) for internal
circulation through the R-134a A/C system and only 525 viscosity mineral oil
on fitting threads and O-rings. If lubricants other than those specified are
used, compressor failure and/or fitting seizure may result.
- Install the receiver dehydrator bracket bolts.
 
- Tighten the receiver/dehydrator clamp bolt.
 
Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 5 N·m (44 lb in).
- Remove the condenser hose to condenser cap and plug and install a new seal washer.

- Install the evaporator tube to the receiver dehydrator.
 
- Install the evaporator tube bolt to the receiver dehydrator.
 
Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).
- Install the condenser hose to the receiver dehydrator.
 
- Hand start the condenser hose bolt to the receiver dehydrator.
 
Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).
- Evacuate and recharge the A/C system. Refer to 
Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging
 .
 
- Using the 
J 39400-A 
 leak test the fittings of the component.
 
- Install the grille. Refer to 
Grille Replacement
