Makes 🢒 GMC_Truck 🢒 1996 🢒 GMC C Pickup - 2WD 🢒 Engine 🢒 Engine Mechanical - 7.4L 🢒 Oil Filter Adapter and Bypass Valve Replacement

Removal Procedure
  1. Remove the oil filter.

    2. Object Number: 70415 Size: SH
  2. Remove the pipe plugs from the oil filter adapter (4WD only).
  3. Remove the bolts from the oil filter adapter (4WD only).
  4. Remove the oil filter adapter seal (4WD only).
  5. Remove the oil filter adapter (4WD only). For 2WD refer to Engine Block Disassemble .
  6. For oil bypass valve removal procedure, refer to Engine Block Disassemble .

Installation Procedure
  1. For oil bypass valve installation procedure, refer to Engine Block Assemble .

    2. Object Number: 70415 Size: SH
  2. Install the oil filter adapter and seal (4WD only). For 2WD refer to Engine Block Assemble .
  3. Install the oil filter adapter bolts.

    4. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 20 N·m (18 lb ft).

  4. Coat the oil filter adapter pipe plug threads with pipe sealant with Teflon® GM P/N 12346004 or equivalent.
  5. Install the oil filter adapter pipe plugs.

    6. Tighten
    Tighten the plugs to 12 N·m (106 lb in).

  6. Install the oil filter.
  7. Add engine oil as needed.
