Preliminary Procedures

1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
2. Remove the propeller shaft. Refer to One-Piece Propeller Shaft Replacement or Two-Piece Propeller Shaft Replacement.
3. Position an appropriate container under the transmission to catch any lost fluid.

Main Shaft Nut

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

Procedure

Use the J 8614-01 to hold the transmission end yoke while removing or installing the main shaft nut.

Tighten
441 N·m (325 lb ft)
