Squeak/Itching Noise in Upper Door Area (Replace Roof Drip Weatherstrip)

This bulletin is being revised to correct the Warranty Information and add procedure information about adding tape. Please discard Corporate Bulletin Number 06-08-64-035C (Section 08 -- Body & Accessories).

Some customers may comment on a squeaking or itching noise in the upper door area when driving.

This condition may be caused by roof drip weatherstrip-to-door frame contact. This could occur at any or all of the doors.

Replace the roof drip weatherstrip with a new softer seal weatherstrip.

Important: The weatherstrip and the surface should be at a temperature of at least 21°C (70°F) prior to installation. The vehicle should remain at that temperature for one hour after the repair has been made to allow the adhesive to develop sufficient bond strength.

1. Remove the roof drip weatherstrip push pins.
2. Remove the weatherstrip using a heat gun, or equivalent, if necessary.
3. Clean all of the adhesive residue from the door opening.
4. Remove the protective film from the back of the new weatherstrip. Apply pressure to the weatherstrip as you install it on the vehicle.



5. Clean the top of all door frames and install 3M™ Squeak Reduction Tape 5430, P/N 06356.
